AP Lineouts
I was hoping people could tell me the main players that run the lineouts for their respective clubs, and then who picks up the role if they're not playing.
I'm thinking about future England lock combinations and what gives us the best combination of skills.
Thanks in advance

Re: AP Lineouts
Are there any backrow players that call the lineouts in the Aviva?

Re: AP Lineouts
Don't believe so stlowe.
Tigers use; Parling, Deacon, Slater, Croft, Skivington - in that order.
Sarries use Borthwick
Bath use Hooper
LI use Kennedy
Sale use Gaskell? (I think) he could play on the backrow
Saints use Day
Glaws use Brown and are now struggling due to his injury
do Worcester still rely on Gillies?
Wasps use Wentzel then Birkett
not sure about Quins or Newcastle.

Re: AP Lineouts
Thanks for the info Sam & As.
So of the the names being put forward as locks for England over the next few years and indeed this 6N (Lawes, Attwood, Parling, Robson, Kitchener, Day), only Parling & Day have notable experience of running a top level lineout.

Yes, which is why it is difficult to find a new lock partnership within the current options.

I thought Wood was just the go to tail ender? I could be wrong but I thought that was why Day was brought in when Kruger went back to SA?

Re: AP Lineouts
You might be right Sam, just thought on a fair few occasions Saints played Sorenson/Lawes or Sorenson/Clark in the engine room last season and couldn't see any of them calling the lineout.

Re: AP Lineouts
You may well be right, Clarke does a fair bit of jumping but I dunno if he actually calls any of the moves. Would be handy if Wood did do it as it would allow England to maybe field to young enforcers in the engine room.

Re: AP Lineouts
Robson calls Quins lineouts along with Easter who has a lot of involvement in it.

Re: AP Lineouts
I'm hoping Robson makes it into the EPS for the 6N ditto Parling. Shaw needs to be retired and Palmer is still out in France and was out of form at the RWC. Keep Lawes in there as he will be a fixture of the team and keep Deacon in the squad for continuity and that should offer some good selections. If Robson works well with Easter and Grey that could be a decent spine for the pack in the 6N.
