Just one player mind!
Take your current team, add one other from any other to make your team more complete!
For Wales mine would be Carter, this would at least give me more confidence when the kicks are being taken.
I know this is not saying I want the best player(ish) on our team and the rest are great but Carter would make a huge difference!

Gatts, I was thinking along the same lines. He could easily slip into the Wales squad or the England squad. Any of the 4 Home Nations squads really.

I wish! I think he is the class act in the NH as an allrounder, leader and snappy dresser. In a top team he would have been an all time great.

Warburton for Ireland. Now that would be one very very scary backrow..

If we can have one openside from any team for Ireland, why not take Pocock or McCaw? I would take McCaw.

Pocock can be inconsistant somethings but this is disapearing from his game so I wouldn't mind him. I have to say I have an intense hatred for McCaw so I wouldn't pick him although he is a very good player I just don't like him.

I prefer Warburton to either Pocock or McCaw. I think Warburton and McCaw are both better than Pocock and more complete players/leaders, but Warburton is younger than McCaw and to me could have even more potential.

Hmm, can't see him achieving what McCaw has. We're talking one of the all-time great players of any era, not just playing now.

Re: Just one player mind!
I know that, McCaw is one of the greatest players ever, playing for the greatest team in the world and captaining them to many great achievements (and possibly their greatest tomorrow).
As a player I believe Warburton has the potential to be even better. He is such a well rounded player and leading his country at the age of 23 is pretty incredible. One of my favourites to watch.

How many games would you get out of MCCaw for any lesser team than NZ? Just asking.

O'Connor I think he's a really exciting player - but then again imagine Wales with Carter!

Re: Just one player mind!
I think Pocock gets a harsh press at times. Of the tier one nations i would say Oz have by far the worst front row/front 5 and against the big teams he is so often playing on the back foot. Im certainly not criticising Warburton or McCaw as they are supreme players but Pocock for me is the best 7 in the world

I rate all three of them and Brussouw also as the top opensides in the world.. tbh Ireland could do with any of them! I think Pocock/Brussouw are probably better on the floor than McCaw/Warburton, but not as complete as the latter two.

Good shout Rory but I'd go for a big powerful 12. Nonu, SBW or Jamie Roberts.

Re: Just one player mind!
Mm I think we have enough potential centres coming through though! Maybe not in the "big and powerful 12" mould. However even Nonu has moved well past the crash merchant player he once was and is now a very skillful player with fantastic distribution skills. I don't think Roberts is in the same league, same with SBW.

But you have Jennings!

Re: Just one player mind!
Disagree Rory. Roberts is right up there now with Nonu and would be an even better foil for BOD than he was in 2009.
Can't understand why people don't feel the love for SBW. He is a phenomenal player. He'd be the 1st name on the team sheet for any other international side.
I wouldn't mind Brad Thorn as a partner for POC either....

...do you really think Jennings is anywhere near either of those players? I don't even think he is international standard (I wish he was though!)

I rate Roberts but I just would prefer a smarter player at 12 with better distribution skills who can also break the gainline (Nonu, Barnes, Steyn etc). Roberts to me could make a better 13 possibly with a smarter player inside. But of course this is my opinion
SBW is good but not as good as Nonu. I think one of the reasons he looks good is the way the All Blacks play though. They are all great support players (Ashtons you could say.. ) and therefore always there to capitalise from his fantastic offloads. Other teams probably wouldn't be able to capitalise from his style of play.

Re: Just one player mind!
The days of us looking for a foil for BOD are gone though. He will never be the same player that he was sadly.

Re: Just one player mind!
Yeah, which is why we need to be bringing in our young centres sooner rather than later. For both BOD and D'Arcy.
