Anyone played Kingsbarns?
A friend and I are both 2 courses away from playing the magical "100 different courses" and have discussed playing at Kingsbarn as our centenary course.
I was wondering if any of you guys on here had played it, and if so what were your thoughts? Good or bad, let me have all the details!

Re: Anyone played Kingsbarns?
I played there in April 2005, it's excellent, a modern take on links golf.
I would go back as some of my family live in Kirkcaldy, the only thing that puts me off is the price, I think it's up to £165 now which I can't justify too often.
If your a permanent resident of Fife I think its about £50.

Not a bad effort compared to the other big name new course in the area, the castle course.
Although not built on links land enough sand has been imported to get quite good links conditions.

My daughter and her fella have played it and rate it very highly.
I can never quite understand why the police force get deals at golf clubs.
Why not firefighters, nurses, dustmen/women etc.?
Makes as much sense.

Yeah, and IT techies. After all, the world runs on computers so everyone would be stuffed without us!
Cheap golf isn't too much to ask for in return

Re: Anyone played Kingsbarns?
From wiki which is fairly reasonable on this
Nepotism is favoritism granted to relatives or friends regardless of merit.[1] The word nepotism is from the Latin word nepos, nepotis (m. "nephew"), from which modern Italian nipote ("nephew" or "grandchild") is also descended.
In the police service it is often touted that those who are members of the masons will get preferential treatment when it comes to promotions. Whilst that's not a family thing it has similar characteristics leading to the charge of police nepotism. It's also seen when the police fail to prosecute those with powerful family connections.
In relation to golf and the police it's seen that many of the leading lights at some wellknown clubs are members of the masons. And as such the police are given treatment which is preferential over the rest of society on the basis of masonic nepotism.
Apologies for my spelling error in the original post. That might have confused you.

Just thought you'd all like to know I get to play Kingsbarns for £25 by virtue of being a member at St.Andrews

ah so it was a typo.....that clears that up
still confused as to what your definitions of forms of neopotism [sic] have to do with the discount on offer at kingsbarns. Are you insinuating that kingsbarns golf links is somehow guilty of neopotism [sic].
Someone who has used semantics to discredit posters in the past should pick their own words and definitions more carefully. I dont like to form opinions of people from forums , especially low opinions , but i am pleased to make an exception for you LJ.

Whats up with you? I think LJ was talking about the police force using nepotism.
As for giving the police discount golf rates I guess it keeps them of the streets.
If you have an IQ of over 100 do you fail the police entrance exam?
In my experiences they really do seem to find some real numpties to join the police.

lieger. Do me a favour. Don't take everything so seriously.
And if you think that nepotism, or my spelling error of neopotism as you seem to be amusing yourself with it, doesn't exist within this country and the various levels of society within it... you're a fool.
