Who is the player of the Rugby World Cup 2011?
Player of the Tournament - Vote Now
First topic message reminder :
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Vote now, by god.
Some context for your selections would be welcomed.
(I have added a "other" option for people to use if they dont agree (H)

Re: Player of the Tournament - Vote Now
I want to see the team of the tournament rather than player of it.
For me the player of it was Nonu. Going from a crash merchant to having a step, filling in as a distributing and kicking first reciever also and all his line breaks. Great support play too

Dusatoir didn't deserve player of the season. No way. He had a very average 6N and only showed his top form in the last couple of games of the RWC.
It should have been Kaino, Pocock, McCaw or Nonu. Crazy stuff. Clearly Dusitoir got the sympathy vote from the IRB after France were robbed by Joubert.

Depends what weight you give to the final. In that game All Black big guns were average, with the exception of McCaw. For the French Dusutoir, Hari, and Rougerie were immense.
Pocock ruled the game versus the Boks, but was anonymous versus the ABs, when he got pinged repeatedly. Looks like his game depends a lot on what side of bed the ref gets out of.
Sam W is ruled out by his moment of madness. If not a red, it would have been a yellow anyway, not acceptable from a captain - and he had already done something similar vs. Ireland. Too pumped up, not thinking.
Phillips? Can't be serious. Great couple of tries, but lots of bad decisions. Not in same class as Genia and Weepu.
Another French player who looked in awesome form - Trinh-Duc. Mazy running, top spin line-kicking, big hits - the lot. Problem is Mad Marc didn't give him a single start in the entire tournament. Go figure.

Re: Player of the Tournament - Vote Now
Have to give it to McCaw, I reckon. Sure, he plays on the fringes of the rules, but that's the nature of the position. Pocock played a blinder under a lenient ref, then was anonymous under a stricter one. McCaw's a different class. He always adapts.
Haven't seen anything arrogant from him either. He seems like a typical understated Kiwi, let's his game do the talking. Compare and contrast with Haskell and other NH "brands" with egos the size of small planets and microscopic achievements.

You've seen Flight of the Conchords, Glas? As a Kiwi friend said "Didn't see what was funny - I thought it was a documentary."

Warbs and Kaino for start of tournament. Dussatoir and Harryordinary for latter stages-overall Harinodiquay I think-just. shame Brussouw and Pockock didnt play more, they were both looking terrific

It was certainly the championship of the back rows. A change from it being the fly halfs hogging the limelight.
