2013 6 Nations Player of the Tournament
6 Nation Player of the tournament
At times it hasn't been pretty, scrums have been a mare and the rubbish weather hasn't helped either. There have been moments of brilliance and no end of heroics from many players. So i've put together a subset of players who have stood out so far (imho). If i get suggestions to add other players i will.
For me its between parisse, picamoles and robshaw and i'd go for picamoles as someone who has really stood out despite the awefulness of his team.

WHAT, only one Wales player on the list? At least it's the correct one. Halfpenny by a mile!

Last year it was only players who had won MOTM - so 1/2p and Warbs will be on the list for Wales

Can we not wait a week for this?
At the moment Halfpenny is a very strong contender as one of the few whos done his job week in week out and actually started every game. As is Robshaw
Putting french fellows on there is an insult to the table, or perhaps the rest of their team.

Either Picamoles, Robshaw or Halfpenny. They've been by far the most consistent performers for their respective sides. Picamoles seems to be the only Frenchman making an impact in every game he plays of late while the other two have been central to their sides battling for top spot.
I sincerely hope the shout for Warbs is a joke. He's started two out of four games and has only played well in one of them.

Thats the beauty of 606v2 forum. You can pick anyone you like! Was close to adding adam jones in the list as he's starting to look meaty again. Faletau had a good start to the tournament but has faded and warburton form has been the opposite.
While my vote is with picamoles i'm expecting robshaw to win the real player of the tournament.

I'm gonna keep this poll active for 10 days as your right that the last weekend might influence things.

Parra has nothing to do in this list. 1/2p or the english captain will win by default anyway depending who wins next week.

Re: 6 Nation Player of the tournament
Hard to call- Halfpenny or Robshaw for me. Brown or Hogg wouldn't be a bad shout. Parra has only played half a tournament, moronically, and Picamoles has done plenty of amazing things but also just seems to be a pure flair player and I'm not sure a team as awful as France this 6N can have a best player contender

Sorry, who suggested Warburton should win it?

Nobody said he "should" however somebody suggested he could. The same person who implied that Warbs ought to be a candidate, as being a candidate entails the possibility of winning it. Why be a candidate of anything if there isn't even a faint credible reason you might win the vote?

Because if you're MOTM then you are automatically a candidate. Somebody just pointed it out for you.

Yep, the only people on the short list are those that have won MOTM awards
Of the top of my head,
Halfpenny (x2)
Robshaw (x2)
Warburton
Hogg
Parisee
SOB (?)
Farell (?)
Picamoles
Kelly Brown (?)
McLean

If England don't win next week it should go to an Italian for the good of the tournament.

Re: 6 Nation Player of the tournament
I voted Picamoles, purely because he's been consistently excellent.
Ian Evans would be a close contender, and Cole, Robshaw and Wood have been very good this tournament in England jerseys. SOB for Ireland probably tops their list, and for Scotland Stuart Hogg has been the pick of the Scotland players in my view, closely followed by Greg Laidlaw. Parisse has as always been good, and I thought Venditti and McLean were both good today, but overall I don't think an Italian has done enough to come ahead of Picamoles or Evans, my top two picks.

I knew there was an Italian win sometime. I'm getting a bit muddled due to sleep deprivation and having the pleasure of 1 and 3 year old children...

Re: 6 Nation Player of the tournament
I'm not sure how Farells not in the list, up until the injury it was on course for he and 1/2p boot off final week!!
The big players for me are Robshaw, Farell, Brown, Laidlaw and Adam Jones.
All have been integral to their teams performances, and very little done wrong by any!!!

Forgot about Evans - will add him as hes got to be a strong contender for lions spot now.

Ooops didn't realise the poll was locked once done - Can any kindly admin delete Parra and add Ian Evans for me?
I don't think Adam Jones has been consistent enough to get added (although he is starting to look much better as the tournament wears on) and I've never liked Farrell's style - stays too deep and not enough variety in his game.

But take both out of their respective teams and see how they perform, Wales went on a 7 game losing streak and Englands backline fell to peices.
IMHO Farell and Jones are the standout players for their nations, and both should push Robshaw close for a player of the tourny award.

If that's the case then that rule makes no sense and should be changed. Theoretically somebody could play dreadfully in all games but one and still be a candidate at the expense of someone who has played consistently better over the course of the whole tournament. As I said, makes no sense.
