World Cup Winners Medals! ! !
When it comes to World Cup winners medals should the likes of Dan Carter, Colin Slade, Mills Mulihana(spelling) should these guys that was in the NZ squad , but they had to drop out due to injurie, should they be entitled to one?
I have said for along time that if any one deserves a World Cup Medal it is Dan Carter, being that he is abiout the best 10 in world rugby.
But he did get injured and played no part in most of the tournament. So should he and the others that i have mentioned be entitled to one?
Your thoughts please.

Everyone who was in the squad gets one, irrespective of how long (or even if) they played for.
Carter contributed more in this WC than Stephen Donald, so sure he deserves the medal he gets.

Re: World Cup Winners Medals! ! !
Simon Shaw was awarded a RWC winners medal in 03 despite being a mid tournament replacement who never featured in any match... and if I'm mistaken an MBE also.
Not bad given he spent a couple of weeks in AUS doing nothing more than holding up a tackle bag.

He played in three games which isn't too bad. Does Joubert get one?

I was not aware of Simon Shaw getting one in 2003 to be honest.

According to Wikipedia*
Simon Dalton Shaw MBE (born 1 September 1973 in Nairobi, Kenya) is an
English rugby union player who plays at lock for London Wasps and England ...
*So not necessarily correct

says on the RFU website he has an MBE and was member of the 03 world cup winning squad.

I do recall reading an article about him getting a winners medal where he admitted it doesn't mean much to him given he didn't play.

In a different thread, when this was last raised, I posted a link to a picture showing Shaw with a medal round his neck after the cup was awarded.
Too lazy to find it again though.

Of course they should. Even non playing staff should. They all would have contributed. I'm not sure why anybody would think they shouldn't.
There's even a lot of skill to holding a tackle bag now, especially when people hit them harder and more often (in drills etc).

Exactly. As the commentator said during the presentation on telly, a rugby team isn't just made up of the 22 players, there's a lot of backroom staff who do their bit and should also get credit. I don't see any harm in giving a medal to everyone. It's not the player's fault he gets injured early on and cannot play any more games.

All players and associated 'management team' receive winners medals, the team doc, physios, etc.

I am sure Kaplan and Peter Allan have tucked some sort of 'medal' away somewhere for their Welsh performance this year . . .
