Makes sense Rava. Team looks good. I think Wannenburg is more effective at 8 though.
I'd have Spence and Cave in the centres too but hey ho thats just me.
Can't wait to see Ferris back in an Ulster shirt.

no fair you get all your returning players back and we're still fielding our even younger youngsters
Tough ask for the Scarlets, can only hope the returning players for Ulster don't quite click although I expect they will. Our forwards are going to have to put in a massive shift for us to have even the slightest chance.

I had Spence and Cave in my team and then realized I hadn't included Wallace.
I would have no problem leaving Wallace and/or Danielli out.

This was all part of our cunning plan that meant getting knocked out at the RWC QF's!

I hate to think that Cave might miss out. He has arguably been Ulsters best player this season so far.
Out of interest have either Cave or Spence got any experience at full back?

I have heard we should have Smiler, Scott Williams Ken and Tavis back, and also we have Timani and Lamont back over the last few weeks. Not too sure about Manu, but he is either this week or next week. SO fingers cross we should be able to put together a pretty decent back, with a bit more experience in the backs to help carry on the good work the real youngsters have done over the past three weeks.

So Kingshu no Spence in your 23? Surely Gilroy would be starting on the wing ahead of Danielli, No?

Kingshu, D'arcy surprised us all last season, but that doesnt mean to say hes our best option. I've tried really hard to love him, and i like his 'go gettem' attitude, but theres no denying he is sloppy. He makes quite a lot of errors both in physical play and judgement. With a great depth now on the wings and centers I don't see the harm in considering some of our solid players at that position.
We need to know someone is capable for cover anyway at least.

Re: Scarlets v Ulster (SUFTUM) 29th October 2011 at Parc Y Scarlets KO 3.00pm
I'd start Danielli, think he was playing well for Scotland, and want to see if he's kept that form before he gets another week off.
and maybe swap Speance and Gilroy, one of them can be rested.
I'd start D'arcy, but as Clive says we need to see who else can cover fullback, I just don't think away to Scarlets, with both teams needing a win, is th eplace to do it, at home against an Italian or Scottish side is are the ones to experiment a little.

Am looking forward to the game - got my ticket and will be in the Pemberton from 1.30. I wonder who dwe'll start with Owens or Rees (Myhill must be annoyed, he's gone from starting the last 2 games to suddenly 4th choice Hooker).
I don't think this team is too bad
I Thomas
Rees
R Thomas
Timani (sp?)
Reed
McCusker
Edwards
Morgan
Knoyle
Newton
Lamont
S Williams
Warren
Liam Williams
Evans
It's very young and I do worry about the FH position, but I think it could be worse

Why is it not on tv??? this has seriously angered me! i've been waiting two weeks for some Ulster action. whats with the 3pm saturday kick-off anyway? Do they ever think that people who watch/go to rugby matches might also be people who play rugby matches.
actually so angry.
anyways, on a lighter note, heres a picture of a kid forcing Ruan to sign an Ireland shirt...

Clive - I guess the kick off times don't work too well for some folk who may have matches. But tomorrow is when most places will be throwing Halloween parties for kids etc in the evening. So i guess a 3 O'Clock kick off works out pretty well for them.
I understand your anger at your matches not getting televised. So far this season Scrum V on BBC Wales have shown more matches involving Munster and Leinster (and possible Ulster too) than matches involving the Scarlets.
On a side note, did that KId do that to take the mick or was it that he though the SA accent was a Gallway accent or something?

Re: Scarlets v Ulster (SUFTUM) 29th October 2011 at Parc Y Scarlets KO 3.00pm
The 3pm sat Kick off seams to go down well, with Welsh fans, While the fri &-8pm Ko seams to be liked by Irish fans
Have to say that IMO the Fri night KO is the better, it means that I get to watch a game have a few beer and then go out on a Fri.
But from a rugby prespective Fri makes more sense as it means the Province isn't competeing for supports against their own club teams, meaning sometimes I can watch Ulster on a Fri and Ballymena on the sat. The clubs need all the help they can get to get fans through teh turnstiles.
I wonder what happens Llanelli and the other clubs in the region, as they would have sat 3pm kick offs as well, they can't be happy that Scarlets are kicking off at same time lowering their crowds.

There is the Ulster team for tomorrows game. Interesting he is trying Danielli out at 15 and Spence preferred to Cave. I suspect Cave will get the Connacht game before a decision is made between the two for Clermont. Great to see Muller and Pienaar back in but one thing that worries me is the continued absence of Willie Faloon. Is he yesterdays man? Havent been impressed with the little i have seen of McComish but hope he goes well tomorrow.

main complaint down here is that with just about every match being televised people are getting lazy, watching on tv instead and not going along, 3pm saturday kick-offs are greatly appreciated, most of the smaller clubs don't charge anyhow. and the Llanelli RFC games are purposely played at different times for fans who don't want to follow the region, but prefer the club scene.

My issue is that there will be a camera there for BBC Wales as highlights will be on scrumV. There will be a commentary team there for radio ulster (gusher and constable) who are the BBCNI commentators. Would it really be logistically difficult for BBCNI to broadcast this as they did last year?
I find it baffling.

my main complaint - and not sure how this effects Irish/Scottish teams, is that on Fridays, without a car you can't get back from the games unless you live in Llanelli/Swansea/Carmarthen and considering it's a meant to be a region, and one on the M4 corridor, that's pretty poor.

Scarlets team just put up on the Scarlet Fever forum, not on the Scarlets web site though,
15 Evans, 14 Liam Williams, 13 Lamont, 12 Warren, 11 Fenby, 10 A Thomas, 9 R Williams,
1 R Jones, 2 Owens, 3 R Thomas, 4 Day, 5 Welch, 6 McCusker (c), 7 Edwards, 8 Morgan
REPS: 16 Rees, 17 John, 18 Gardiner, 19 Shingler, 20 Pugh, 21 Knoyle, 22 Newton, 23 S Williams
Should be a win for Ulster with most of their internationals back, let's hope they don't need the ref's help this time though.

i dont think the 7pm kick offs on friday nights are great either. Im not sure why they are so early but it is very difficult for people to get home from sorted and sorted to get to ravenhill for 7pm. It is also well nigh impossible to do this if you dont live in belfast and needs looked at. 7.30 or 8pm kick offs will lead to bigger crowds imo.

Re: Scarlets v Ulster (SUFTUM) 29th October 2011 at Parc Y Scarlets KO 3.00pm
It is a bit weird Stand.
With regards to kick off times, I much MUCH prefer the 3pm ko. For me, 8pm on a Friday is impossible. I could get to Llanelli okay but then I'd be stuck trying to either get back to my parents' in West Wales, or even trying to get back to Cardiff. 7pm ko's are a bit of a gamble as well.
There's so much travelling support for a lot of the regions, that late ko's really do just scupper peoples' plans. Should get a really decent crowd for tomorrow's match (or I really hope so!).
And still no Scarlets team anywhere This is a very late announcement for them!
With regards to kick off times, I much MUCH prefer the 3pm ko. For me, 8pm on a Friday is impossible. I could get to Llanelli okay but then I'd be stuck trying to either get back to my parents' in West Wales, or even trying to get back to Cardiff. 7pm ko's are a bit of a gamble as well.

ah oops, crossed post. Not a bad team that, good for us to have Tav and Scott on the bench.
Looking forward to seeing how Monty and Warren link up in the centre two.
Just really hope our forwards front up, they should be well fired up for this one.

I have updated the original post to show the starting line-ups.
With the exception of Faloon this is the team I picked on Tuesday .
Stand I agree about Faloon. I hope he doesn't become disillusioned. Will he go further down the order when 1F is back? Apparently McComish has been training very well though.

The 7.05 kick off is purely for the TV.

Rhodri Williams against Ruan Pienaar is literally a 'man against boy' battle, I can't see why they would start him with Knoyle on the bench.

oh God, I missed that Turskter. You're right, that choice is a bit baffling. Huge ask for Rhodri. He's shown some good glimpses but really needs to speed up his game. Hope our backrow can offer him some protection.

Ulster need a win here. Big time. Hoping Pienaar comes straight back into form.

Turkster - thats a bit insulting to call Ruan a boy ain't it?
THat ain't too bad a Scarlets line up really. It shows faith in some of the lads who have played well so far this season, whilst having the option to bring on some realy quality if it is needed.
