Alcohol Thread
First topic message reminder :
Someone said we needed one...
Personally not a huge drinker myself. In fact very rarely drunk, however when I drink I prefer things such as Southern Comfort with Lemonade or Coke. Not really tried that much stuff myself just don't really find being intoxicated is all what it's made out to be personally. Call me a square but I'm not alcohols biggest fan. However it's gotten me into a few more beds than I wouldn't usually so ah well eh...
What do you like to drink?
What occassions, what drink?
Then we can rip each other for being girly or so overtly macho that you are clearly just compensating for the fact that deep down you've always been bi-curious. (Don't worry Sean your secrets safe over here)

It will be with a friend I’m guessing, unless tomorrow night goes particularly well. Even so I wont be as under the thumb as half this board.

We've got a brewery in our town, is legendary actually. People from "your area" may have heard of it actually.
I'll PM you the name of it, you may have underestimated me on this one Mr Rotley

A microbrewery is only really distinguished by uniqueness, the bitters we get from there are pretty special to be honest.
It's still a brewery though in the general sense

How else did you know it was a microbrewery? And wikipedia defines it as "a brewery which produces a limited amount of beer, and is associated by consumers with innovation and uniqueness."
I'm the consumer, i associate it as being a microbrewey due to being different than the crap IPA roll out.

Wikipedia expert, microbrewerys are known as such by limited production.

Must admit I'm with your way of thinking there. I think a decent bitter should be cold and frothy - John Smiths, Tetley's, Boddington's etc.
A lot of this southern stuff is very average, but because it is hand pulled and looks 'rustic' people cream themselves over it.
Is it the Royal Oak and Skylark in Headingly? I used to get smashed on Tetley's in those places back in the day. Bowling green as a beer garden at the Royal oak. Great fun.

Suspect they will be forming an orderly queue down the stairs and up the street as he works his way through them in double quick time.

Could market it as a the 606v2 Xmas Party.....
If we go up north we can probably hire a 5* hotel for £15 each (inc free bar)
50 Strippers would probably only cost a few quid each as well
Who's in?

I was in there one night when the Aussie RL team walked in. Got chatting to Laurie Daley and he was a cracking bloke. Introduced me to all the players. Wendell Sailor was a bit of a johnson though.

Re: Alcohol Thread
I once arrived home after a night out, very drunk, and couldn't find my keys, so couldn't get into the house. I was that sort of falling asleep drunk, so was desperate for somewhere to kip, and decided that I would have to sleep in the garden shed. I couldn't get into the shed, as the door was padlocked. I then found my keys without realising I'd found them, went in the back door and got the key for the shed, locked the back door again, and spent an uncomfortable night lying next to my lawn mower in the shed.
I've got loads of these stories.
My autobiography is going to be brilliant.

I'm not a big fan of Desperados, I found it a bit sickly and sweet. I do like Corona or Sol though, but I tend to only drink it in the summer, as adverts have conditioned me to not need to think for myself any longer.
'Brahma', the Brazilian version of Corona/Sol, is also a nice summer lager.
I do like Brahma.

It's the last remaining trappist beer actually brewed exlusively in Bruges/Brugge (there's a good brewery tour if you ever go there) and is absolutely delicious.
For Brit ales you can't beat Bombadier in my opinion, with Speckled Hen and Doom Bar close runners up and Honeydew a summery alternative.
Yeah I drink Bombardier/Speckled Hen on tap, but find Fullers 1945 and ESB a bit more interesting.
Not sure really, if you ever get to a Belgos restaurant they serve it but it's the only place over here I've seen it. Bruges is great, can do it from London in a day trip driving but it's a push (unless you split the driving responsibility) but you can get a cheap(ish) hotel and just stay over the night easy enough. There's a great
pub there that has an entire beer menu about 3-4 inches thick, contains over 400 beers. And they have the speciality glass to go with each variety of beer too. There's plenty of cultural stuff to do and lots of chocolate in case you need to convince the missus this beer-meccah is worth a trip!
Yeah Bruges is a lovely little place, took the missus there about 3 years ago, you can get there on the EuroStar from St Pancreas in about 2 hours - you just have to catch a connecting train from Brussels. Great variety of fruit beers (some lethally strong) and if you like steak tartare or mussels you'll enjoy the food. It's only small, like a big town more than a city, but there's quite a lot to explore of you take a tour, go on a canal boat, horse & carriage etc. The park is really nice. You can do the whole place in about 3 days and you'll spend your money with the euro being as it is, but it's wort it.
