Alcohol Thread
First topic message reminder :
Someone said we needed one...
Personally not a huge drinker myself. In fact very rarely drunk, however when I drink I prefer things such as Southern Comfort with Lemonade or Coke. Not really tried that much stuff myself just don't really find being intoxicated is all what it's made out to be personally. Call me a square but I'm not alcohols biggest fan. However it's gotten me into a few more beds than I wouldn't usually so ah well eh...
What do you like to drink?
What occassions, what drink?
Then we can rip each other for being girly or so overtly macho that you are clearly just compensating for the fact that deep down you've always been bi-curious. (Don't worry Sean your secrets safe over here)

Not really up on my foreign lagers, generally just stick to the Guinness. However, I do like a few polish one's, Zywiec being the best of the bunch. I like a nice pint of Grolsch when I can find one.

Yeah don't mind Tyskie, but prefer Zywiec. If Ireland beat Estonia and qualify for the Euro's, I'll hopefully be out there trying a few others.

Hopefully the Ireland matches will be in Poland then as Ukraine is absolte cack. Have heard good things about Odessa, which I'm yet to visit myself, but went to Kiev a few months back and it was very much a poor cousin to other Eastern European hot-spots.

I heard that Ukraine is poor. My friends just back from a weekend there and wouldn't recommend it. Hopefully all the games are in the one Country. Gdansk to Donetsk is about 1200 miles, too far to travel between games.
Anyone going over to support England?

Possible. Missed out in the general sale but may have a go when they go to England members, should have enough caps.6oldenbhoy wrote:TopHat24/7 wrote:6oldenbhoy wrote:Yeah don't mind Tyskie, but prefer Zywiec. Think I'll go regardless if I can pick up tickets or not. It may be my only opportunity to see my Country play in a major tournament. Please God let them qualify.

Disappointed with Doom Bar after the hype in this thread. Nothing to it, the Old Thumper I had beforehand was better.

Apologies for the anti-climax then Scott, I still think it's delicious, maybe it's just a taste thing - I don't like anything too heavy or powerfully flavoured (or bitter in fact - had a Bengal Lancer IPA the other day and really didn't enjoy it). Top 3 are probably still:
1. Bombardier
2. Doom Bar
3. Speckled Hen
Honourable mention to Wandle, a local London ale brewed in Wandsworth.

Re: Alcohol Thread
Yeah it's individual, just think it's a bit boring. BL is a decent IPA, quite like it but prefer the sharper, more citrusy (Sorry Union) IPA's I mentioned like Goose Island.

Really is a nice summer beer. Has a hint of Vanilla to it. Only problem is getting a decent pint of it. In a lot of places it can be very flat, but the pints at the brewery are great.

My nightly dose varies between Kronenbourg, Bière Blonde and Heineken. Occasionally I'll break out the wine, randomly whatever I have at the time, and at gatherings the JD/Jim Beam/Maker's Mark may come into play.
Me and my immediate group have also developed a taste for Frosty Jacks.

Re: Alcohol Thread
Had Hoegaarden Grand Cru and La Trappe Blonde tonight.
The Grand Cru is recommended if you like Hoegaarden, don't think it's technically a wheat beer, but tastes like one with characteristics of a blonde. You can taste the alcohol a bit, but not surprising at 8.5%.
Blonde is decent, similar to Maredsous but a bit less flavour.

Hobo - Is that a banning offence?
Alex. It's simple. We (i don't know if you're a tax dodger) work hard, we have to put up with various females and our release is going down the pub and supping on the sweet taste of well earned beer. We then have umpteen too many and end up pishing around laughing at most things whilst being rather boisterous.
Look, come down to mine and after 3 months of hard training you'll be a pro drinker. There'll be times you'll want to give up, there'll be times you can't remember how you woke up with a chicken in the house, there'll be times you fall down the stairs, there'll be times you spend 2 hours talking to the front door demanding it opens by itself.... But by dammit it'll be worth it
3 months training = £495.00 + VAT and you buy beers for me

You forgot to mention the part of your training where you can dehydrate 10 litres overnight

Re: Alcohol Thread
It came from an old thread about manny being at a natural weight when fighting but whoever it was he was fighting having to dehydrate by about 10 litres or something.
I cant quite remember other than you said that you dehydrate and drink 10 litres of water all the time.

Re: Alcohol Thread
That's almost a hanging offence on here. I think the fascination is to do with the old 'alpha male' thing. Personally I can live without it, I've no interest in waking up with a gaping void where my bank balance used to be, with a mouth like a sewage drain. There are better alternatives.AlexHuckerby wrote:i dont quite get the fascination with alcohol... what is it thats so good about it?
