England v Wales today - Page 2 Empty England v Wales today

First topic message reminder :

So Australia win the opening game and will play England next while the defeated Kiwis will face Wales in a game they will be expecting to win .

England should win today , but they will have to improve on recent performances . A loss would probably meen they would have to beat both the Australians and the Kiwis to make the final .

Does this put added pressure on England to get a win today ? Yes it does .

im still going to go for a England 24 Wales 12 result . But wouldn't be to surprised if it ended differently .

missed the game as was at Morecambe v Gillingham (morecambe won 2-1 if anyone cares).

Kenny how did england look? what changes do you think that they may need to make after that performance? Do you think we have a chance against either of the big 2 ? What was the refeering like, espically the laying on situation as that was almost farcical at times last night?

England didn't look bad some silly mistakes players out of position for Wales try , and some handling errors which Aus NZ would of punished us from .

The halfs worried me neither Sinfield or Chase kicked for position that will need looking at , first twenty odd minutes Briers controlled a lot of the play with his kicking game and we didn't respond .

If England play like they did they will have a chance against the big 2 but dont think they would win , need to up the game by about 25% to stand a chance of winning either game ..but saying that playing Aus and NZ should up England anyway so who knows .

It was the NZ ref and he reffed it completley different last night , he stopped the laying mostly and had a quicker play the ball . I suppose its a good thing that we wont get an English ref .

Changes wise i dont think McNamarra will make any , but i would drop Wilkin from the bench and add a bigger forward maybe ?

Think we need to put Widdop with Chase, as said earlier don't think with Sinfield the ball moves quickly enough.

Just think that Aus, NZ looked bigger, faster and stronger.

Perhaps we need Bentham, because think that if they get to play quickly think they could beat us easily, but we shall see.

Thats the problem we have had for a lot of years , we dont match up size wise against Aus and NZ things are changing slowly but i always get the feeling they could just run right over us .

England know they will have to play mistake free football if they hope to beat the Aussies and Kiwis.

Are we capable of doing that ? We need Aus and NZ to not be on there A game if we are going to get a result .

Its just my opinion.but i think if we had the right coach we could beat Australia a bit more often than we do now. I really hope that Steve McNamara can get the best of of the players he has. Motivation does seem a problem for the England team at the moment, but again in my opinion.

I have said before i dont think McNamarra is good enough to coach a super league team let alone the national side . If we dont win the 4 nations i would look to bring John Kear in as coach .

I'm not sure about John Kear, but i think we need a coach who can motivate players , but we do need a coach who can motivate players when they put on the England shirt.

It should be an honour to play for your country , some players need to find their pride in wearing the shirt imo .

Always liked Kear , wouldn't want an overseas coach .
