Personally think that India has the best line-up and that there's not that much difference between England, SA and Australia with Pakistan and Sri Lanka slightly behind

India's is the best in terms of the names, you'd have to say, but across the last year or two it has to be England. Consistent performances from most of the lineup on a regular basis. I'd rathe Australia above Pakistan, but agree with you other than that.

The Australians are a bit behind the English line up.
Watson - decent opener
Hughes - talented but that's it so far
Ponting - a former great who cannot convert
Clarke - a very good player but has patchy form
Hussey - As good as most
Marsh/Khawaja - Still to make a mark
Haddin - Good player but Prior is a better one

Re: Strongest test batting line ups
Hughes has flaws against the short ball, and you will struggle to have long test career if you struggle against short ball. Khawajla hasnt looked pormising at all. Stella did u not see Marsh in sri lanka in the test matches..

Re: Strongest test batting line ups
he has made his mark early, and if he builds from here, then he will be a superb test player, hundred in his debut innings, and followed it up with some pretty good scores.

Sri Lanka's bowling is garbage though in fairness, and the pitches are pretty flat. Stick Marsh in a Test in England and he would in all likelihood be made to look amateurish.

to be fair you can only play whats in front of you. also fists, you havent seen him bat then? he has a very solid technique, and looks like he would be able to play everywhere. The true test will be as u say when he plays in england.

Yeah I've seen him bat, but having a solid technique in Sri Lanka and having a solid technique against James Anderson swinging the ball round corners is a different thing entirely. As you say, England will be his true acid test.
Re: Strongest test batting line ups
Cf
Raina has been dropped. It will be either Yuvraj or Kohli at 6.

Re: Strongest test batting line ups
Sri Lankan line up-No Dilshan? Not the captain? Are you aware that S'weera has been dropped?
Are you aware that Sarwan has been dropped and Samuels is in the side?
Are you aware that Siddique is currently not in the BD Test side?Shahriar Nafees is playing instead.
Are you aware that Hopkins and McIntosh have been dropped?
The Pakistan line up is spot on though :thumb
BTW If you are going to mention the BD line up then surely Zimbabwe deserve a mention. They beat BD in the one off that they played and took Pakistan to the last day?

Re: Strongest test batting line ups
I think currently England have got the strongest batting line up. and stats reinforce this!
IRRESPECTIVE OF NAMES (India) England have THE strongest line up - 4 of our top 5 are in the top10 of the ICC rankings.Only SA run them close i believe as they have 4 in top13.
Bell, in my opinion is the best Test batsman in the world on current form over the past 12months.
Even Broad who bats no.8 is ranked higher than alot of batsman named in the top6/7 in the topic - notably Marsh & Hughes, Raina, P.Jayardena , Bravo, Malik etc etc

Think you underestimate Marsh if you think he'll look amateurish TBH. He is a very fine player, reminds me a bit of when Hussey burst onto the scene.
Khawaja looks dodgy around and outside off-stump, not where you want to look dodgy. IMO Ferguson is a better bet.
England have a very good batting line-up as do India. Both sides have uncertainties at the no 6 spot.
South Africa are ok, I'd have them on par with Australia. Pakistan are inconsistent and Sri Lanka rely far too heavily on Sanga and Jayawardene.
