Simon Shaw on his way to Toulon?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/15556563.stm
Simon Shaw has asked Wasps to let him finish his career abroad having agreed a one year deal prior to the RWC. He know wants to leave Adams Park with the smart money being on a move to Toulon as a medical joker for Bakkies Botha (or so the rumours go).

Finsih his career abroad? He does not ready to finish. Shame if it is true.
If he goes, I hope it is somewhere which gives him a chance to play in the HC and one last match in England. It does become a bigger issue if he really signed the contract. Even for a quality gent like Shaw, a contract must be worth something.

As the saying goes "there is no smoke without fire!"
Could this be just another sign of things to come around the sinking ship that is London Wasps.
The list goes on: Players asking to be released, the endless struggles with getting a new stadium, the financially disastrous overseas merchandising exercise (playing matches abroad) that seriouslly p1ssed off the regular fans & season ticket holders, financial issues abound and of course, the owner not feeling Wasps are worth it anymore and putting them up for sale.
Very worrying times for a once powerful & proud club.

Very true MT and it really is a shame as Wasps were just coming back to some form this season. Add Shaw to Wentzel in the second row and you have a frightening rolling maul option from every lineout. Can't blame the big man from wanting to have a final season in the sun with a pension top up.
Wasps need a new owner and a move back to London.

Metal Tiger those problems you cite are not unique to Wasps!
Agree Sam. The main questions are where and who?
Of course we have discussed the where before but not the who.
Anyone want to buy Wasps?

I absolutely agree. Wasps made a very big mistake moving out to Wycombe. They had a good following back in west London and now that those players are almost all gone, there is really nothing left.formerly known as Sam wrote:Very true MT and it really is a shame as Wasps were just coming back to some form this season. Sad as it is to say, I would not be surprised to them playing in the Championship in the next few seasons. That's the time to buy.

Nah it's far to easy to get stuck in the mire of the Championship, look at Bristol they went down and have found it a real nightmare to escape. Better to come in as the white knight and pressure a cheap deal through now whilst the club are still performing to a decent level and with the right injection of finance could still achieve some regular HEC activity over the next few years. There was some clever signings made this summer and if one or two more can be picked up next year to go along with the return of the Brand then Wasps could do well.
