Glasgow Warriors team for Aironi
15 Peter Murchie
14 Federico Aramburu
13 Alex Dunbar
12 Troy Nathan
11 Tommy Seymour
10 Duncan Weir
9 Chris Cusiter
1 Ryan Grant
2 Dougie Hall
3 Ed Kalman
4 Richie Gray
5 Al Kellock (captain)
6 James Eddie
7 John Barclay
8 Johnnie Beattie
SUBSTITUTES
16 Finlay Gillies
17 Mike Cusack
18 Gordon Reid
19 Rob Verbakel
20 Henry Pyrgos
21 Graeme Morrison
22 Stuart Hogg
23 Ryan Wilson
Several players rested at this point in the season, which opens the door for others to show what they can do. Johnnie Beattie needs to show he hasn't lost his hunger for the 8 jersey, if he doesn't turn up against Aironi he's going to find it increasingly difficult to dislodge Wilson. Likewise, Kellock comes back into the side knowing that Ryder has been doing very well at lock so far this season. Barclay starts at 7 and is still the clear first choice openside.
As for the backs, no Dewey and bench for Morrison, means a new centre partnership from last week for Nathan and Dunbar. I think it looks a promising side despite the number of players being rested.
What are people's thoughts on the team and the likely result?

Re: Glasgow Warriors team for Aironi
Dropping Hogg for Murchie has a whiff of the Moffat about it. Maybe Lineen is starting his own policy of dropping form players.
I'm also surprised that Kalman is in for Cusack for the same reason.
Otherwise pretty pleased. Glasgow don't seem to be doing so well in the "easier" fixtures so far this season, so I hope they don't take this assignment lightly. A victory here and it represents a very decent start to the season for Glasgow. Hopefully a bonus point is attainable here as well.

Re: Glasgow Warriors team for Aironi
I’m glad to see Beattie back in the team. It’s time for him to put in the performances that we saw before his injury. Maybe the power of his Movember moustache will help him. I seem to remember that some of his best performances were accompanied by a sweet handlebar moustache.
I’m hoping Nathan at 12 will allow us to get the back three involved more since he’s not the straight forward crashball type of player that Morrison is. Agree that dropping Hogg could be a mistake. Hopefully we can get a few tries rather than having to rely on Weir’s boot.

I don't believe that it is 'dropping' Hogg, but merely resting him for a game before his return to action for the HC

You don't need to rest a 19-year-old!!
Hell, when I was 19 years old I.....oh, hang on.....
Apparently Hogg used to play 10 and 12 as a school boy. Now that's interesting, capable running back that he is.....
