A bidding war for Shaun Edwards?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/15630633.stm
Seldom do people give up a job for no reason.
I can see three possibilities:
1. Wasps weren't offering enough.
2. Wales/Blues have head-hunted him/tapped him up.
3. England have head-hunted him/tapped him up.

if he'd been tapped up wouldn't he have already signed up for his new contract?

Not necessarily. Presumably SE has an agent who would act not only on SE's behalf, but also in his own self-interest.

Well the Wasps did annoy Cardiff over David Young, so maybe the Blues wanted some pay back?

Hopefuly it will be for less petty reasons and a positive move for welsh rugby.

Re: A bidding war for Shaun Edwards?
Interesting that the Wasps vs Blues legal battle has suddenly ended. Edwards not initially allowed to sign for the WRFU/Cardiff as Wasps hadn't officially agreed to terminate his employment. Cardiff drop the claim for compensation on Young and Wasps release Edwards?
Don't really want him for the England job, if a new defence coach is coming in then Dave Ellis is available and Gustard at Sarries is currently doing some very good things there (the orchestrated kick chases last season were immense).

Re: A bidding war for Shaun Edwards?
Is Shaun Edwards realy that good a coach (at iternational level ) i mean?
Did he realy have that mutch of a hand in Wales Grand Slam when he and Gatland took over the Wales coaching jobs? Wales have had some good times and some bad times since he became involved.
What about the Frnch defence coach Dave Ellis isn't he out of a job right now,
Who would be better for the England job out of those two.
After all if we are talking about success in the Rugby World Cup, well France, DID GET TO THE FINAL.
Just like to make that point.

Re: A bidding war for Shaun Edwards?
i think he left Wasps knowing that there'd be alot of international coaching jobs up for grabs once the RWC had finished, i think if the WRU offer him enough money then he'll stay but i have a feeling he really wants to be head coach at international level and not just an assistant, and with him being English i think its out of him and Johnno for the England head coach role which he is probably waiting on to see what happens,
to my knoledge France, SA, italy and NZ are all looking for new coaches but i'd have Wales and England as clear favourites

I am sure Dave Ellis will be offered an England contract. They would be daft not to.
