Favorite Test Venues.
Whether it be lords for the history and being the home of cricket or Galle, Newlands for the scenery or the Adelaide Oval with it,s blend of old and new.
Which is your opinion is your favorite Test ground ??.

Lords for the history and tradition. Melbourne holds some fond memories for me as I was lucky enough to see Warne get n°700 there, and believe me, 100 000 people or so rising as one to celebrate one man's genius is spine tingling. Edgbaston or anywhere with the Barmy Army for atmosphere.

Headingley for history (and because i'm biased).
But honrouble mentions also to Eden Gardens, The Wanderers and Adelaide Oval.
For atmosphre it's hard to beat the Indian, Pakistan and Sri Lanka grounds, though sadly these kind tend to be more for one day, 20/20 games nowadays.

Durban and Perth
No better sight in Test Cricket than the ball whizzing past the batsman's ears

The South African.
St Georges park (Port Elizabeth)
A very relaxed family orientated venue, the band, the boxes made of logs and plenty of place for kids to play cricket during breaks.
Centurion (Pretoria)
A great venue to watch limited overs cricket, it is an open stand, I think the maximum capacity is around 14 000.
Wanderers.
I think the crowd participation makes this a great venue, the biggest cricket capacity stadium in SA..
Haven't been to Kingsmead, Newlands or Bloemfontein stadium.

I was talking more about the pitches rather than the ambience.

Re: Favorite Test Venues.
For me the pitch is more important than the crowds and the ambience as thats where cricket is played on.
Better the pitch, better is the quality of cricket played.
So I always rate venues depending upon the quality of the pitches produced.

Adelaide - Beautiful (but never been )
Lords - History, and the buzz. Plus I had coaching there, which was an experience.

I too will opt for Adelaide, i just find the mixture of modern and the past to be very charming. Also when the cameras pan too the outside the city and the river Swan looks stunning. A strong second for me would be Galle, with the Old Fort in the backdrop and right on the coastline.

I was there that day too, MFC, absolutely unbelievable the atmosphere, wasn't it?
Despite the fact that we were getting steamrolled, I thoroughly enjoyed that Test match, and happily applauded Warney.
Do you remember the cheer that went up when he was just warming up to bowl? That in itself was incredible enough, but the place went ballistic when he bowled Strauss for the 700th. I'll never forget that day.
Edgbaston is my favourite ground for atmosphere here, but I haven't been to Lord's which is something I need to remedy, I'd love to watch the opening day of a Test series there.
Re: Favorite Test Venues.
For Test venues that i have actually been too, it would have to be Lords. The first time i went, was the 1st day of an Eng - Aus Test match. I got off the tube and on the short walk to the ground you could already feel the buzz, (even had a tout offering me triple my ticket cost for my ticket) Once inside it just made me feel good to be part of it.
Usual outcome on the pitch though, England were steamrollerd, i am so glad times have changed now though
