I am pretty sure he'll play to be honest. I hope he does because we want the best players there to make it a complete tournament.

But again, why woudl he talk about his injury before the tourney? To help with pressure or to psych his opponents?
I don;t understand players talking about their injuries before a tournament starts. One woudl think you'd try to hide your weaknesses, right?

I wouldn't put too much stock in these leaked memos to the press.
Team The Nadull is developing a habit of press leaks citing dubious injuries prior to big tourneys.
It probably helps take the pressure off.

Well it smacks of red herring to me. Mentioning it before the big tournament at the end of the year and yet not a peep before Paris?
Just strange really. Not sure what to make of it. There was nothing obvious in Tokyo.
It is such a 'throwaway' thing to say, it then becomes easier to dismiss his year down to this problem.
I guess at least with Djokovic the discomfort is obvious to see on court.

Re: Nadal not 100% fit nor 100% sure to play at WTF!
Yawn - I don't speak Spanish, but it's pretty clear from this that last week Cotorro was saying he'd be OK for the DC and the Masters http://www.rtve.es/deportes/20111109/rafa-nadal-se-pone-punto-para-copa-masters-copa-davis/474361.shtml and living tennis guide is thinking that Djoko is injured, not Nadal, 4 hours later http://www.livetennisguide.com/2011/11/14/will-djokovic-injury-backs-federer-nadal-rivalry-at-london/
I would be very surprised if Nadal won't be there. As far as these various reports are concerned, Nadal obviously wants to keep any TD informed as well as his DC captain, and if the press ask his team a question they cannot but answer, but the feeling is that there are a lot of unprompted 'will-he won't-he' stories and if that's right and his team are the source of those they need to put a sock in it until it is necessary to inform the public one way or another.

That's one thing I never liked about Nadal and his "team" always some mysterious injuries, always mind-games before tournaments, I mean was he ever healthy and ready for any tournament (in the press)?
Uncle Tony is worse than Mourihno in that respect.
Nole's been carrying his shoulder injury for a long time and nobody had a clue until he ground t a halt.
Same with Federer and Murray.
I just don't get Nadal.

Re: Nadal not 100% fit nor 100% sure to play at WTF!
I wouldn't take much notice of this report which was very badly drafted imo. Team Nadal do like to cause a bit of suspense with such press releases and obviously any publicity is better than no publicity since the main focus is on Djokovic's fitness. Maybe they feel left out and want to make the headlines.
A little pain really is not exactly new worthy is it? Or is he laying a foundation should he walk away with results akin to the WTF 09? I doubt it very much and with the rest of the top 4 carrying injuries or inconsistency, Nadal is my pick for the title.

I will be intrigued to see what Nole and Rafa do in the close season and whether further treatment is needed for their respective injuries in the form of rest or even surgery

YIMan,
out of sheer curiosity, what's the big deal? Is there something we don't know?

The big deal is that we dont allow abuse against other members or links to other forums and sites without prior permission from the admin. (its all in our site rules for reference) https://www.606v2.com/t1019-site-rules
This is not up for discussion. Im sure you can debate the tennis issues without taking the 'p' out of others or their alternative web-sites.

That's fair enough on its face, what I want to ask is whether it is in part me you are saying has transgressed?
I don't believe I have insulted anyone - merely pointed out that elsewhere sites are saying Nadal's fit and that whilst I appreciate he is entitled, even obliged in some circumstances, to explain his condition if his team is behind a lot of whispy will-he won't-he reports I'd prefer them not to, but to operate clearly and on the record.
I provided some links, but I am entirely unaware that any of them involve a forum, and if they do I did not knowingly provide a forum link so I am sorry if I did.

We are not a corporate organisation like the BBC NITB. This is a private forum run by a few people who give up all their free time. All we ask is that our members follow our site rules to make this place a pleasant experience for our members. Surely, that is not too much to ask is it?

The other forum/blog I referred to Barry is a one set up by a previous member from here. Obviously news sites etc are all good.

There was a certain amount of banter which went over my head at the time about another site where information about Rafa might be obtained.
