As 2011 draws to a close it's time to reflect on who has excelled this year. There have been some awesome achievements this year and here at 606v2 we want to recognise those who have stood out from the rest.
So out of the following nominations, who for you has been the star in Gaelic Football for 2011?
For a full list of the categories of this years awards, visit https://www.606v2.com/t18317-the-606v2-awards-2011
Thanks to Irish Curry for the nominees

Has to be the "Gooch", yeah?
I would like to watch more of this spectacular sport... it's pity we only get a few games shown on delay before the Final.

As much as I dislike voting for Dubliners, Alan Brogan hands down.

The Gooch?! My arse!
I've gone for Alibongo Brogan. He's been better than Bernie, and Cluxton can't win on the basis of one kick (as important as it was).

Disagree there, Cluxton gets my vote, he was outstanding for the Dubs this season and in the final although it was only a single kick it won them there first Sam since '95 and made history.
Don't like voting for Dubs either but will this time- just to show I'm not a bitter wee mucksavage...all the time.

Your knowledge is far superior to mine in this sport.
It was like 'pinning the tail on the donkey' for me - although now you mention it, Alibongo Brogan has a nice beat to his name.

Eh...I wouldn't take my word for it Breaker I'm just a Taffy from the wrong side of the Irish pond.

I think Bernard is the better of the two brothers actually , anytime he goes off the Dub's standard drops by a significant amount. Alan would be a close second though.

I hate you all. I voted for Darran. Declan O'Sullivan should have been an option too.
IMO Darran had a sensational year. He played great football in every game he played.

Maybe I should have rephrased that!

1. Bernard Brogan for his looks.
2.David Cassidy for his accent.
3. Darren O'Sullivan for his cheek.
4. Stephen Cluxton for his cool head.
5. Alan Brogan for his determination to create a 3rd generation of Brogans.
6. Colm Cooper for his football. At the end of the year what's football got to do with a football award.

Who's David Cassidy? Sorry, I should have said Kevin. It's early and I was late for work.

Curry - Sorry, I couldn't resist. Besides, there's nothing wrong with admiring Bernie...
Blue - David Cassidy?! Showing your age there, girl!

The name seems to ring a bell with you Cari. I'll tell you what happened. Late for work by an hour this morning, listening to the car radio playing 70s music, Bowie, Stones, Morrison and yes David Cassidy. Being late and it being Friday, now means I have to work through lunch and will have to work late. I'm still in a bit of a tiss. Anyway do you agree with my choices from 1-6.
I've just had an idea get off the internet and go back to work. Jesus I hate the winter. It's p---ing here with gale force winds.

I blame my extensive knowledge of '70s music on my mother, honest

Rebel - have you been watching the Munster Heino games? Twice Ronan OG has kicked a winning DG in the dying minutes. Munster fans nerves must be in shreds by the end!

Re: 606v2 Awards - Gaelic Football
Yeah. The one last week was slightly more dramatic. 42 phases, half came after 80 minutes had elapsed.
There was a certain inevitability about the one yesterday......which is odd, to expect the absolutely exceptional.
They'll leave themselves too much to do very soon. The H cup is competitive all the way through, which is amazing really.

Rebel - according to Michael Corcoran on RTÉ Radio it was 150'000 phases I did enjoy his commentary, he was so excited he sounded like he was having a breakdown.
The Heineken Cup is a thoroughly entertaining tournament these days, you just can't predict who's going to get through their pool at the moment, which is a good sign.
