Re: I miss the 80's tv
My '80s Tv memories:
St Elsewhere
Hill Street Blues
Grange Hill
TJ Hooker
CHIPS
Lenny Henry's own show.
Bob Carolgees and Spit the dog.
Casualty - it seemed gorier and more disturbing then.
Saturday Superstore
The Bill - in the days of Ted and Tosh.
Juliet Bravo
Rockcliffe's Babies - UK cop show with a great theme tune.
Bread
Tony Hart's art programmes - I think they were called Take Hart and Hart Beat.
No.73
The A Team
Tales of the Unexpected.
Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.
Why Don't You?
Duncan Dares.
It's A Knockout.
We Are The Champions.
Play Your Cards Right.
Terry Nutkins on things like The Really Wild Show
The Price is Right (but only when Leslie Crowther presented it).
Dynasty.
Dallas.
Santa Barbara on weekday afternoons when I was off school sick
Falcon Crest (see above)
Married With Children.
Cheers.
Rosanne.
The Pink Windmill Show - I think that's what it was called - had a witch called Grotbags and when someone knocked the door they would all sing "There's somebody at the door..." and Rod Hull was in it with Emu.
Top of the Pops - especially on Christmas Day.
Noel Edmunds programmes on Christmas Day - he did a live one called The Late Late Breakfast Show.
Cheggers Plays Pop (I think it ended in the '80s though).
Razzamatazz.
The Tube.
Live Aid - all day and all night.
Saturday Night Live with Ben Elton.
The Young Ones.
World of Sport on ITV with Dickie Davies.
321 - the most complicated gameshow on earth, but it did have Dusty Bin.
Tiswas.
Every Second Counts - pish easy gameshow presented by Paul Daniels.
Les Dennis and Dustin Gee doing impressions on telly - can't remember what their show was called.
The Benny Hill Show - I only liked the sped up gags at the end of each episode.
Little & Large
Cannon & Ball
The Krankies
Watching TV-AM before school
How We Used To Live - always had to watch that drama in school history lessons.
Sons & Daughters - dodgy Aussie daytime soap with an annoying theme song.
The Sullivans - wartime set Aussie soap used to be on at dinnertime.
Neighbours - Daphne's death and Scott & Charlene's wedding being the highlights.
Home and Away - when Bobby loved Frank.
Prisoner: Cell Block H.

Re: I miss the 80's tv
The 80's is sublime for one reason.
3-2-1.
I literally have no idea how those clues work out. He just says loads of words that appear to have no linkage really fast. Then convinces us that there is indeed linkage, and we, the contestants and the audience just take it for granted that there must be.
Brilliant telly.

Re: I miss the 80's tv
and who could forget all those pastel crims on Miami Vice?
and Dallas and Dynasty of course... I didn't watch them much but they were huge in Oz.
Also... was The Equaliser late 80s or early 90s? It was on the other night - it looks so soft & boring now but at the time it was so 'cutting edge'

As a boy and with access to a TV there was probably something wrong with you if you didn't watch Baywatch.

Re: I miss the 80's tv
Baywatch started in the States in '89 but was cancelled after one season due to poor ratings, then restarted in 1991 where it continued and became a global hit. So, it didn't reach UK TV until then and continued until about 1999.

Bought Alf for my eldest niece, she loved it.
Was probably my favourite show in the 80's.
Dont mind admitting I've been watching it again myself, loved it as a kid, love it as a man in his mid thirties.
The old Alfster.

Loved The Wonder Years. It originally aired in the States from 1988 to 1993, but arrived in the UK a bit later. Sadly it still hasn't been issued on DVD due to copyright issues with the soundtrack.

Indeed I was 10. I was obsessed with the show, I used to tape them and then pause the video if a contestant got a longer word than me to try to find it! I applied and got an invitation to an audition, but 'bottled' it. Applied again some time in 1999 and this time went to the audition. Passed and got on the show. I won my first game, beating a 6 time champ, but then dissapointingly lost my 2nd game by 5 points. I SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER!! lol. Was a good day out. Although must admit to be disappointed by the dictionary corner guest (David Steele) and Richard Whitely. Their jokes went straight over my head! Carol Vorderman was something else though. Amazingly good looking on TV she was even better in the flesh!! Got my teapot which I still keep on the mantlepiece :-)

Funny... Countdown was also an Aussie music show which ran from about '74 to the mid 80s. Our equivalent of Top Of The Pops in the pre MTV era.

Possibly the longest time to work out ever on Countdown (3 days!) but the top one is Cocooning, don't know the bottom one though. Ones that have ING in tend to be a bit easier as you then only have 6 letters to work off.

Wasted a fair bit of time on that Soupmoney conundrum and following a google search, I can safely say I would never have got it. It still doesn't even look like a word to me! (Assuming that the anagram solver was correct of course)
