Cardiff's Cuthbert in Welsh Squad
What are peoples opinions on Cuthberts inclusion into the Welsh squad? Personally i've been impressed with his performances this season so far, he's inform and been selected, as it should be.
For future prospects its looking good, North 6'3" 17st on one wing, Cuthbert 6'6" 16 1/2st on the other

George North MKII
...not that im hyping up a young player only to watch him fall :/
But seriously, he is already huge, quick and with a great rugby brain and clinical finishing (his try against Metro was class finishing worthy of Williams himself) - I wonder what will happen when he has been properly conditioned with Wales.

Roberts is 6ft 4, I know coz I'm the same size as him (well I'm slightly larger but there we are) he's def taller than Phillips anyway (at least he looks it)

I met Jamie Roberts with his girlfriend the morning of the Wales France game on a friday night, must be three years ago at a guess. Very nice buy and absolutely huge. six four is as good a guess as any.
His girlfriend and her mother were also very pleasant, both smartening up the view from the front of the Sacre Ceur.

It's funny how big Shane Williams looks in real-life, as for his size (5ft 7) there's no way he should be 12/13st - he's very broad across the chest for such a short person

Thank fook union went professional, otherwise they'd all be playing league.
Even as an ospreys supporter i was hoping cuthbert would be brought into the squad, his finishing is first rate.
I think the regional academies are finally producing youngsters who can now step into into the regions first teams. When you look at the backrow, we've got plenty fighting for positions

Paris 2009. We made a weekend of it. Brilliant time, shame about the result. Though a fantastic match and an unbelievable atmosphere.westernosprey wrote:Maesteg,

It used to be league now it is the Top 14 or Premiership with bigger budgets than in Wales.

Re: Cardiff's Cuthbert in Welsh Squad
Personally think Brew has been hard done by but with Gatlands past record for bringing in youngsters during these games and with Cuthberts form it wasnt a surprise.
Good luck to the lad if he has half the impact North has had then we will be looking very good

Roberts is definitely 6'4, but looks bigger. Been stood outside Newport RFC club with him, the guy is huge! Lydiate is another giant that's worth a mention and Charteris has to duck and cover to not hit his head on the ledge when entering a room/building.
I do think those stats are off though. I'd say Phillips and Preistland are 6'3, Foxy is 6'1 and Cuthbert is 6'4 aswell. He's definitely not 6'6. Williams and Knoyle are big for scrum halves, each 6'0.

Re: Cardiff's Cuthbert in Welsh Squad
For me Brew just doesnt cut it at international level, good at regional player but he was never going to be world class.
Where as Cuthbert does have something about it, hes big, quick turn of pace and can finish. good luck to him

Re: Cardiff's Cuthbert in Welsh Squad
I think Brew just needs a decent crack at the whip and if so will prove very valuable with his work rate, power and pace.
Is Cuthbert really 6ft 6? When I saw him in the 2 games I've been 2 down the Blues I didn't think he looked that huge (though I was in the middle, to upper part of the stand)

Cuthbert is quoted everywhere as being 6'6
Scarlets website has Priestland and Foxy as 6'1
Blues website - Roberts 6'4

Re: Cardiff's Cuthbert in Welsh Squad
I can believe Foxy and Priestland as 6ft 1 - or I might say 6ft2 but I wouldn't argue against the website - just have to take a harder look at Cuthbert next time I see him on TV or live, (hopefully I'll be at the Oz game), as I never realised he was that huge...

Re: Cardiff's Cuthbert in Welsh Squad
Certainly wouldn't hype up Cuthbert at this point, still a baby in professional terms and could do without the pressure. Refused to buy into the George North circus last season and am delighted to have been proved wrong on him...so far. Same approach for Cuthbert required now imo.

Look at this picture. If North is 6'4 then Priestland is 6'3 like I said he was. You can see Foxy is 6'1 from a mile off, and I think Scott Williams is a solid 6'0! Just saying... Cuthbert doesn't look that tall but I'd have to see him stood next Roberts or North to make a better judgement.

Nah id say North is 6'3 and Priestland's 6'2 team websites always exaggerate the size of the players.
