Lifetime Eclectic Score Empty Lifetime Eclectic Score

Post by jeffkenna Fri 25 Nov 2011, 12:34 pm

The 606 winter eclectic series got me to thinking the other day about my lifetime eclectic score around my home course. Just as a matter of interest does anyone here keep track of their score for their home course?? Curious to hear people's scores for such??

My scores and versus par for the hole in brackets are:

2(-3), 2(-2), 2(-2), 3(-1), 2(-2), 2(-2), 2(-1), 2(-2), 2(-1) = 19 (-16)
3(-1), 1(-2), 2(-2), 3(-1), 3(-2), 3(-1), 3(-2), 2(-1), 3(-1) = 23 (-13)

Total 42 (-29) Par 71

2 driveable par 4s on the front 9 make that a little bit easier but room for improvement on the back!
An interesting experiment and something that I will keep track of to try see how I do by the end of my golfing life (which is hopefully another 50 years!)

I've been a member of my course for 3 years and in that time I've birdied every hole and had eagles on one driveable par 4 and one par 5 so I guess that would make my score 20 under. Can't think of any eagles on the other par 5 although certainly had a few putts for one.

After a quick count I'm -31 after 20 years on my home course:

3 (-1) 2 (-2) 1 (-2) 2 (-2) 2 (-2) 2 (-2) 2 (-1) 2 (-2) 2 (-2) = 18 (-16)
3 (-1) 3 (-2) 2 (-2) 2 (-2) 3 (-1) 1 (-2) 1 (-2) 2 (-2) 3 (-1) = 20 (-15)

Total 38 (-31) par 69

Holing-in-one 3 of the 4 par 3's and also having 6 driveable par-4's (depending on wind direction) obviously helps a bit. Smile

I've only been a member at my club for 2.5 years. I'm -6 for this year but didn't keep scores before that - probably -9 or -10 total

It will be difficult to improve on that too much as I've birdied pretty much all the "birdieable" holes for me - so unless I hole out some full shots or something I'm unlikely to improve any more

I have been a member at my club since 1996 and wouldn't like to guess how many times I have played it since then but it must be getting on for 1000! If we are including friendly play off the yellow tees mine is:-

Total 46 (-26) Par 72

One hole in one, holed my 2nd shot on a par 4 on three occasions, and eagled all the four par 5 holes. If we are talking about competition play only off the whites my total would probably be about 10 shots more!

Good question Jeff and it's interesting to see other peoples replies...I think that ralphjohn's -31 might take some beating!

I can't believe these scores - off the Whites, I'm -6 from 62 rounds Sad

Even our Club Champion only has -16 (from 48 rounds) - your golf courses must be like fields!

bluecoverman- like you I've been member at my course since 96. Well into the thousands of rounds I'm sure having spent most of my teen years on the course. I'd say 6/7 rounds a week during the summer!! Course sets up nicely for it, 2 driveable par 4s on the front. Linksy sort of ground and during the summer downwind holes can play quite short. The -31 will take some beating but now i know my target!!!

Best I can muster is -28 on a par 72. Have holed out from the fairway on 5 of the par 4's though and eagled all the par 5's.

Banbam, yeah 3 of the par-3's are beauties, coincidentally the worst of them (the 7th) is the one I haven't holed! I only know 1 person who's had aces at all 4. The short par-4's do give you a chance but it's a very tight course with a lot of OB and if you miss in the wrong place high numbers are possible.
Course record is 61 (-8) by Lee Rhind (ex-scottish boys strokeplay champ and scottish internationalist) who's now a pro in texas and Colin Swanston (scottish boys internationalist & ex lothians champ).

One thing I notice above...you've made an albatross on your 1st hole? That must have been a blast; rarer than hens' teeth.

I'm 21 under at my home course after 6 years. Eagles at 1, 6 & 13 (yes Doon thirteen, that's not a typo!!) and the rest birdies.
At my 2nd course after 3 years it's 17 under, no eagles, just birdies at every hole except 15.
Just for fun, having now been round it 8 times in 2 years my eclectic for Carnoustie is 5 under...birdies at 1,4,6, 11,12,14 I have yet to par that beastly 17th

Are these gross scores?

Anyway, as encouragement for a beginner (a few rounds on a municipal pay and play), how about the 'negative eclectic: most strokes per hole?

d_h,

my eclectic score at my home club this year is 59 (-13)
my negative eclectic score at my home club this year is 117 (+45)

from 18 rounds, though i made no improvement to the eclectic after 12 rounds, i made plenty of guffs toward the 'negatice eclectic'!

Good thread.22 under in 20 years.Probably the best eagle on par 5 18th where in a scramble we had to take my drive, put my three wood on the green (and the others didnt even bother)and holed the putt.On the negative side must be at least 40 over

I've only ever had 1 eagle!

Merc.

Like holes in one, some folk seem to have the 'ability/luck' to hole shots.

The only golf clubs that I have not holed out with is my 3 wood and 2 iron.
Depends also on the course my 43 was on a course with four driveable par 4's. At one of those par fours I had a hole in one
I grew up on a championship course and I can't honestly say that I recall any 2's at par 4's although I am certain I must have had a few.
I did make one albatross there, a 2 at par 5.
At Sunningdale Old I holed a pitch on the 3rd for a 2 then put my tee shot 2" from the hole at the 4th. Having started seven, five !!

Would be -19 for me and unlikely to go any lower soon as after being at Rangiora for 3 years only had my first eagle last week there. back in UK at Patshull eagles were not a rare bird.
Non of our par fours are driveable and cant reach 3 of our fives unless howling gale behind

WOW at some of these scores.

Ive been at my course a year and my score would be 17 under. Birdied all holes bar 2 and holed my second shot on a par 4. Little scope of improvement but not too much. Unless im to hole my 2nd shot again or eagle one of the par 5s.

I think some of you guys need to man up and start playing on proper, tough courses raspberry

My course has 2 par 5's and 1 driveable par 4 so only 3 eagle opportunities apart from fluke shots. Anyone getting to better than -21 on my course is relying on luck rather than skill.

Same here - my course has only two par 5s. One 550 yard uphill and the other 530 yard dogleg left-to-right with a water hazard across the full width of the dogleg (about 270 yards). Six par 3s and the course as a whole is very tight.

I reckon I'd be a 5-6 handicapper if I played at some of your courses!

We are all trying to get as close as we can to the pin when we are playing a par 3 or playing our 2nd shot to a par 4 but there is always an element of luck when the ball drops in the hole.

Most of the people showing a low eclectic score on this thread have been a member at the same club for around 20 years. The difficulty of the course will obviously have an effect but it follows that the more you play the same course the more likely it is that you will have a lower eclectic score.

Blue

Very true but the element of luck is huge. I've been playing golf for close on 40 years now and I've never had a hole in one and only holed out full shots from the fairway 3 or 4 times.

Some people are either very good or very lucky, not sure which.

I've been a member at my club about 10 years and have probably played close on 1000 rounds.

I've birdied every hole, eagled all four par fives though probably only once or twice each at most. Never had a hole in one there though I had one aged 16 elsewhere. The only par 4 I've eagled was a complete fluke. Bounced off a wooden sleeper guarding a ditch and went in. It's only a short par four so I must have been close othertimes but the only time it went in was that fluke.

Not sure what that tells you!
