Tsonga's staying power Empty Tsonga's staying power

Post by carrieg4 Fri 25 Nov 2011, 1:01 pm

Since it appears to be a hot topic on a few threads, I thought I would dedicate a thread to Tsonga's future chances.

Where do you see him going from here? Is he top 4 material?

Personally I think he is practically unstoppable on his day but he hasn't shown himself to be capable of stringing such days together. I see him always being a major threat and a player most would like to avoid but never winning on a consistent basis. In my opinion he may reach top 4 but I can't see him staying there.

What do you think?

As Becker said it yesterday, he's got talent and all he needs now is a decent coach. He has the shots, the athleticism and can sustain his nerve when needed, so for consistency a coach is a must.

I think next year he can beat anyone on good day, and he will only get better.

The big question is who will win a slam first....Tsonga or Murray?

I'm going for Jo-Wilfred!

In a match between the two, where both are playing as well as they can, I would give Murray the edge over 5 sets.

can't see it. This isn't the first time he's done well in the indoor season, in fact he has a great game for indoors, but beating a sick Nadal in three close sets doesn't cry out "top4" to me.In Paris he made the final by beating Seppi, Isner and whoever his first opponent was, hardly awesome stuff.

Good grass court player, good indoor player, but can't see him being consistent enough to challenge the top 4 on a regular basis.

I would like to see him in the top 4. I think this year he's improved on his consistency. The rest of this tournament will tell us what we want to know I think.

Thing is Murray plays as well as he can about as rarely as Tsonga does.

Sadly true - here's to more consistently good play from both (but more more from Murray) Bubbly

Ps I know that sentence doesn't really make sense but I know what I mean.

Tsonga will only win a slam if the top 10 level decreases by 90%.

In other words, non hasard.
