V2 WCC- The aftermath
The V2 Wrestling Champion Competition started with 96 wrestlers consisting of 40 from the WWE 30 from TNA and 26 from other promotions around the world, the first round was broken down into 16 groups of 6 guys with the top two progressing from each round.
Round 1
Group one was arguably the most competitive group that saw the icon Sting, indy hero Chris Hero and ROH's Shelton B all make it into the next round after the voting was neck and neck and well neck all day, but after 59 votes Hero took it with Shelton and sting all tied up for second.
The next group saw the first landslide victory and it went to the second generation superstar and current ic champion Cody Rhodes who notched up a massive 39 votes which totalled 72% of the overall vote, Rhodes was joined in the next round by runner up Mr Anderson.
Group three was another milestone for the competition as the first number 1 seed of a group RVD failed to make the next stages, this one was won by the impressive 3rd seed R-Truth with 22 votes and runner up, bound for glory series winner Booby Roode who won 16 votes.
Group four was all about the wwe's COO HHH who was in full control all day, the real story in this one was the race for second which ebbed and flowed all day between TNA's Austin Aries and Dolph Ziggler who eventually took the runners up spot with 11 votes to Aries 9.
Another landslide in this next group saw one of the best ever Kurt Angle reach 25 votes which was over half the total cast to take this group with ease, the runner Kane also made it through a tight group that included Colt Cabana and Wade Barrett
The biggest winning margin so far came in group six with Y2J Chris Jericho bagging 73% of the total vote, the blue print Matt Morgan came in second with 7 votes
Group seven was cut and dry all day as AJ Styles was way out in front, until late afternoon when the miz started to pick up votes and ended up matching AJ with 17 votes each at the closing point.
Another group that was obvious to most and didn’t provide any shocks was group 8, as The undertaker went through with 22 votes and 2011 Money in the Bank winner D.Bryan was the runner up with 13
Group 9 was taken by another top seed, Randy Orton and runner up 3rd seed James Storm
Another really close group between the eventual 1st and 2nd placed John Cena who won 17 votes and Sheamus with 16 votes
Group 11 was a three way battle between Samoa Joe who took 1st place with 50% of the vote and the joint runners up The animal Batista and the worlds strongest man Mark Henry who picked up 10 votes each
Group 12 or the group of punk as I like to call it was a bloodbath, the voice of the voiceless notched 75% of the vote that worked out to 43 votes from a total of 57!!! This group became all about second place and some what of a surprise saw 5th seed Eric Young make into the next round.
Another group for the top seeds as 1st seed Christian and 2nd Seed Jack Swagger both progressed with 24 and 13 votes respectively.
Group 14 again saw the number 1 seed top the group, that was Jeff Hardy and the runner up was 3rd seed Crimson.
Another first for the competition saw the first 6th seed Santino Marella make it through as joint runner up with the Pope, but this group was won by Bully Ray with 48% of the vote.
The final group of round 1 was taken by Alberto Del Rio and his fellow countrymen Rey Mysterio was a close runner up.
The second Round was made of 36 wrestlers that qualified from round 1 and were split into 8 groups, for many the competition really starts now as some of the biggest names and best performers in the industry squared off for your votes.
The rules of round 2 are very similar to round 1 however a first place finish will now benefit the group winner as he will face a runner up from another group

I must admit, after reading this site for a while, I created an account so that i could contribute to this!
Its been a fantastic source of entertainment for me whilst suffering the boredom of my 9-5.
So for that i thank you

Well done pal, I'd certainly be interested in other polls if you had the time to pay as much attention to detail as you have here. Great job

Great job MtotheC.
Greatest ever poll???!!
Could you imagine the debate with monumental rounds such as The Rock vs Shawn Michaels. Kurt Angle vs Bret Hart. Hulk Hogan vs CM Punk. Stone Cold vs Ric Flair!! etc etc etc

Great round up mate, fantastic effort and stamina throughout, not sure I'd have had the desire to keep it up for so long, we should possibly do a monthly column all the way through next year covering as many promotions as possible so the selections next year aren't as random.

Re: V2 WCC- The aftermath
I would be more than happy to setup a legends competition if the board wanted it to happen?! Let me know your thoughts and I can set the wheels in motion... I must admit I am keen to do it as for the last two months the first thing I do every morning when I get to my desk is update the competition and setup the new days poll, not quite sure what to do with myself now! Some work? Do me a favour!
Let me know your thoughts on a legends cup and I will happily make it happen if the want and need is there!

Re: V2 WCC- The aftermath
@ gaffer... That's a great idea, tried to keep it as relevant as possible but there were a few glaring omissions (Jefferson impact) and some inclusions that probably didn't warrant it. I did ask for suggestions before but as a new poster the confidence and interest from others was probably not there yet.

Will doing more poll competitions dilute the interest in the concept?

Re: V2 WCC- The aftermath
That was one of my concerns, as I said if the want and need from the board is there I will happily do it, if not I am also more than happy to get involved in other discussions as the competition does take up a lot of my time and doesn't always allow me to get as involved in other threads as much as I would like to.

Top work MtotheC
Great series hat has entertained me throughout work the past few weeks.
Suppose now I'll have to actually do some work!
As for the contest, in the final I voted for Punk but then got home and started to think some more, watched the Greatest Superstars of the 21st Century DVD and realised just how much I loved Kurt Angle and wanted to change my mind!!!

I'm going to let the dust settle on this and will setup the legends cup in the new year.
If you would like to use this thread as a place to leave suggestions of legend wrestlers you want involved, this is chance to get the wrestlers you want included

Re: V2 WCC- The aftermath
Yeah that's a good idea, forums are usually a lot quieter over christmas due to people being off work ect...
I think if you do 96 again though maybe do two/three rounds a day in the first round so the early part doesn't drag as much, 3 weeks of first round matches could be considered a bit much

I disagree, I think it gives a good discussion to have one each day and then the reasons why people have voted how they have.
Of course if it makes it easier or it's more desired by the forum to do a few a day then I'll acquiesce.

Bump.
Just wondering if we were still planning the legends competition after the huge success of the last one? Bit slow on here lately so thought it might be the right time. Not that I'm volunteering to do all the work for it!!!

Re: V2 WCC- The aftermath
Ok well I'm happy to do it if the general feeling is that's it's wanted.
Please state bellow what legends you want included, now is your opportunity to have your say rather than in the semis finals which is when someone normally vents an issue with certain omissions and inclusions!
N.B I started a new job today and im in training all week so my opportunities to post are going to be very limited, therefore make suggestions on who you want included here and suggestions of any ways to improve the format and I will start it next week.
