Rule Changes Thread
Once again the GAA's inability to just leave the games alone have surfaced and the standing rules committee is looking to get more rule changes in place this year. Pre-season games will play host to these before they are shipped off to GAA congress. But this time they may just do something decent. New substitution rules are being thought up (although not aussie style inter-changes) in order to avoid problems with added time by speeding up how subs are made, and best of all, wait for it....doing away with the square ball rule! Hopefully more successful than with last time.
In other news Cork star John Miskella is retiring from all football due to a persistent groin injury and a club match between Naomh Fionbarra and Oliver Plunketts that was abandoned after floodlights failed is to have the remainder of it played later meaning that this will be the shortest GAA game in history with a grand total of just 7 minutes playing time!

Wouldn't count our chickens till they've hatched, curry. Both need to go through the works at the weekend but then its still only experimental after that. We'll need to wait until the season starts again to hear the final verdict on it.
On substitutions there's nothing concrete yet but it looks like they'll be doing a similar thing to Ice Hockey where if the manager decides to make a sub then he can just walk on and get stuck in without the game being stopped. Can see a few controversies happening if that one goes ahead, like if Dublin are playing then in some situations their players might have an amazing realisation that they cant run off the field as quick as they thought leaving more than 15 on the field at once when the game is still in play.....

Hummm... not sure about that, I mean if the ball is near the sideline near the end of a match and you are losing a manager could just send on a sub the get the ball for someone the other side of the field Thats not going to work.

Bound to be a few "wee accidents" like that. Ball is heading toward someone on the sideline and suddenly decides to be knocked out by some clumsy oaf coming off for the opposition- "sorry pal t'was n'accident honest". Latest is Jack O'Connor wanting a cap on the amount of handpasses before kicking, probably with that shower from Tir Chonnail in mind. And some idea about Rugby style give the ball a wee tap frees.
