Rios v Murray
Has anyone seen it? Was it a one sided beatdown or did Murray give a good account of himself?

Re: Rios v Murray
It was a competitive one-sided beat down. Rios looked awful in there, i've never seen him so slow, the weight problem really hurt him. That being said, murray never hurt him and despite landing with alot, rios just walked forward without any concern. The uppercuts, while slower than usual, were very heavy and were cutting up murray's face. After round 6 rios had control of the fight and was hurting john with every shot connected with. Murray did well and showed a gutsy performance as he always does but he was well and truely beaten up by the end.
I worry for murray as he has marked up badly in his last 3 fights, and one of those was a yourneyman with little power. i can't see his ever beating top opposition because of this problem

Murray is not world class I think he should fight for the European or British title again if he fights world class guys then he will get knocked out as Mitchell and Rios showed.

Re: Rios v Murray
murray may have the aggression, but if it isnt backed up with power to hurt an opponent it leads to him being hit too many times.
he has a few TKOs on his record, but against lower caliber fighters.
at world level he's a way of winning a belt.
theres no shame in being euro level.

He did OK actually, but Rios was just too heavy handed and Murray was marking up badly and being hurt. Gallagher could have pulled him out a bit earlier but good stoppage by the ref.
Rios didn't look as good as normal but Murray put in a decent performance.

Re: Rios v Murray
Rios looked huge compared to Murray. Gallacher should have pulled him out after round 6 or 7 there was no need for Murray to take that beating. he clearly wasn't going to win. Nothing he did had any affect on Rios and Rios was hurting more with every round.
Poor display from the corner.

Agree with most of above!! Did much better than expected but was far too open for those uppercuts, and his punches never had the same kind of venom that Rios was dishing out. Do wish though he'd work on moving his head more than he does.
Nothing to be ashamed though, bags of heart, courage, showed he can take some serious punishment and keep coming, and was game throughout!!

That's bad! Bet you Mitchell is happy. A blessing in disguise

Can't see how mitchell will be happy, they are different fighters so the beating wouldn't of been so bad. First of all he has no hate towards murray, they were always professional. I also think that mitchell will be kicking himself as rios was a lot slower than usual meaning that he would have been easier to outbox. If mitchell ever had a chance, it would have been last night. Yes, rios would have walked through his best punches but his shots where telegraphed and mitchell wouldn't have been caught that cleanly

Ouch.
Murray is far to easy to hit this is what will happen to him when he fights at world level tbh he took a bad beating off mitchell and rios. Maybe he should retire but he needs to forget about world titles he does not need those kind of beatings.

Picked Rios by decision and I was nearly right....
When you are fighting a guy who get beaten badly in his last fight..you can't help but lack motivation...
plus the struggles to make weight..

this shows why his face looked like that, he's a warrior, but it also points out how much murray lacks in power. He landed 272 power punches and rios barely blinked

Couldn't ever see Murray winning, shame as he's always game but his style of fighting is really designed for someone with power and he sadly lacks this.
Think he should stay at Euro level and be content with it.

Re: Rios v Murray
Murrays face was in tatters by the end, took a serious serious beating by the end, but he was absolutely game, such a tough man absolutely full credit, in the tenth Murray literally sprinted out of his corner and started throwing punches as hard as he could. there was no quit in the man, but too many punches took it's toll and he was out on his feet, well timed stoppage by the ref. But when it did a close up of his face right afterwards I almost felt sick.

Don't forget it was a light welterweight versus a lightweight.
