I pay to watch Froch, but I really don't like the guy. Ward has him mentally in the staredown.

I quite like Froch, find him quite entertaining and switched on outside of the ring, and a true warrior inside of it.

I know what you mean mate something about the guy I don't like. He's very dull.

Cheers for this stuff. I love all the hype stuff no one does it better than n HBO but Showtime do some good stuff.

Thanks for the links. Got to say Ive always liked Froch though, Ward too actually as it happens. Both guys come across as refreshingly frank and pretty honest (for the sport of boxing at least). The nonsense factor with both guys is pretty low and I think they more or less tell it like they see it.

Yeah me too, live and when primetime was only online( didn't have a phoneline).
Obviously glad this one is free being so close to christmas.

Picks? I think Ward will win it, and going by my form in picking fights that almost guarantees a Froch win.

Ward 116-112 at a push. Theres a possiblity the scores could be wider due to some hometown scoring maybe but regardless of what the cards say I think it will be a compeitive fight that Ward wins by several rounds.

I think wide UD Ward - he will frustrate Froch early on and make him look clumsy as the fight goes on

Can't stand how righteous Ward is.

Although I generally don't like it when a boxer can't seperate his profession and his religion. If we're all God's children that includes your opponent.

ward is cool and is the perfect response to froch's comments.

i like the stare-down, as far as production values are concerned, its far better than HBO's version....although its clearly a huge rip off.

the bit at the end of great too, after it ends both fighters show a lighter side to each other. its going to be a war, but they both respect each other.

i have a feeling ward has too much for froch, too slick. unfortunately i haven't had this feeling since kessler. (beating him, not being too slick)

Ward by fairly clear cut UD, for me. Just too slick for Froch, who seriously needs to up his work rate to avoid losing a shut out.

I think ward was brilliant, answered the questions well and played the good guy role. I like the comments about he can be beat, froch didn't know what to say. ward seemed to be getting to him and mocked froch's defense when the original question was of how good a chin froch had.

You would think he may be like mayweather but is very controlled, respectful and is intelligent

I doubt it's going to happen but I really want Froch to batter Ward all over the place, something I thoroughly dislike about him.

If it becomes a tear up, which I genuinely do think is a possibility I would back Froch all day long, otherwise I can only see a Ward win and a pretty comprehensive one at that.

So fellas, who do we think gained the upper hand in the mental battle of the 'staredown'? No doubt it was edited accordingly and so perhaps not one hundred percent accurate, but makes for an interesting debate all the same.

I'd say Ward, personally. Much as I love Froch, he does tend to get a little carried away at times and it seems that his mouth is often a few seconds ahead of his brain. Ward was pretty calm and forthright in pointing out some of Froch's contradictions and whatnot, seemed a little more in control of his nerves and emotions.

Anyone else have a particular take on this?

I dont think Ward is slick, he has got hand speed bu the seems rush forward and use his head alot. Froch wont stand for his rough house tatics and also has a bit of reach on him. If he can keep Ward at bay and not get reckless it will be very interesting. A reach and a good jab will beat speed!

IMO I think Ward gets thought of too highly. Especially by Dan Rafeal? Future P4P1

Ward definitely, far more composed and aware of his own limitations. Froch is a bit deluded.

It means nothing though.

Froch hands down, Ward was spouting a load of contrived BS, he knew most of what Froch was saying was bang on and had no real response to it.

I wouldn't go as far to say it means nothing, but it doesn't mean too much with what has been said as Froch is generally pretty good focusing himself mentally.

Think Wards actually a very quick guy to be honest, just wish he'd shutup about God.

Ward did appear to have the edge following that yes, however I'm not so sure Froch is one to get too involved mentally and emotionally, and I can't see it changing the way he fights. Could hardly be any more reckless could he!

Boxing isn't about being smart outside of the ring, otherwise Wlad Klitschko would be the greatest heavyweight of all time and Nathan Cleverly would whup BHop.

It clearly plays a part, but I'd say someone like Ortiz who clearly lost his head in the staredown with Mayweather will be much more susceptible to such things than a Froch.

His opposition, he must know that with the exception of Kessler its pretty poor but tried pointlessly validating Miranda, Bika and Green.

Fair point, he was more realistic otherwise. Admitting when he got hurt and that anyone can get knocked out. Froch will never admit that Kessler or Dirrell got the better of him or that he even contemplated not getting the decision.

'Prime Allan Green' did make me laugh though.

I like Froch, but can only see a wide Ward UD. Ward is pure class. The better the opponent, the better he fights. He will be a genuine P4P top 5 (top 3 when Floyd/Manny leave the scene).

Watch out for Andre Dirrell also.

Yeah he's fighting at the end of the year.

This tournament has been the nuts. No messing about with contracts, desputing this, that and God knows what else. They're in from the off and now we have two of the best super middleweights going head to head in a winner takes all final.

Dont hold back Balti. Say what's on your mind. Am I to take it that you are not endeared to Dirrell?

As for ducking low, Pernell was called classy for doing that. He was also extremely boring in the ring. Dirrell hit and move and he hit Froch more times than Froch hit him. He won and Froch was gifted a win. FACT!!!!!

Harsh Balti, nothing wrong with realising you're not cut out for professional boxing for starters. We don't know whether he deserved an oscar for the Abraham performance or not to be honest, it's very dodgy however. He's a very talented boxer and I don't think there's anything wrong with his chin to be hoenst, he took some hard punches by Abraham.

Dirrell's problems were independently verified by Dr. Shaw...High.

Leave the poor guy alone, eh's been through a traumatic experience.

Really don't think Dirrell is all that skillful. He's fast, but that's not the same thing. Defensively he's crap if he can't run away with his arms flailing or flop to the floor like an epileptic at a Jean Michel Jarre concert. Out of the ring he strikes me as a pretty classless individual from a pretty classless family. Being punched in the head was definitely the right career choice for him.
