Aaah - weather fine - cold and still ready for a real Warriors effort at Fortress Firhill.
Big shock a minute ago when I turned on the telly and that talentless, ginger t88t Hucknall was on polluting the airwaves. Almost spoiled my day but remembered the match and fairly cheered up. Rory L for a brace anyone ?
C'mon the Warriors

Just tuned in to last 10mins of first half. Looking pretty good, Weir's range/power is phenomenal!!! He will surely be picked for next 6 nations, he's far better than Parks and Jackson. Cusiter looks like he's having a good game too, I liked his quick tap and go when Montpellier gave away a penalty, very switched on. Scrum is a worry though, have to deny montpellier chances to scrummage in glasgow's 22. Glasgow are more than capable of winning and hopefully we can squeeze a bigger margin in 2nd half.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
Anyone watching this, folks? Need some info!
Apparently it's 12-10 to Glasgow at half time.
Weir has kicked 4 penalties, Escande with a converted try for our fromage eating, surrender monkey brethren, with Bustos Moyano also dotting a penalty for Montpellier.
Can anyone offer an opinion on how Glasgow are playing?

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
Good win for Glasgow. Weir again steady and busy if not spectacular but he needs to develop a running game - one run he made I think and he was turned over. Hogg really looks the part with several good breaks. Gray a bit anonymous, One decent run but he seems to spend too much time hanging around the fringes of rucks not doing much. Seems to have lost some sparkle. Front row struggled all game. Kelloch showing a bit of fight - literally - might get cited for a punch or two. Rory Lamont looked fired u as well - got a couple of decent runs in. Cusssiter looks back to his best
too many mistakes - getting isolated or knocking on

We're over in France next and that will give us confidence.
Happy with the win but it sounds like our front row got a horsing.

Marvellous result. I know they were missing players, but you have to beat what's in front of you. Shame they ended up with a losing bonus point.
Also great that Leinster beat Bath. The same results in the next round and Glasgow will have a great shot at a 2nd place qualifying position.

And I'd have to see the highlights but by all accounts Hogg showed his class and is responding to the challenge of Lamont being in the squad. Surely Andy Robinson has to be taking notice?

Hogg was quality. check the stats on espn scrum but he made IIRC 3 good breaksa dn set up a try as well as no mistakes
Its going to be testing for Robinson we know he is a cautious / conservative selector but loads of young guys are putting their hands up for a place

George,
if Robinson overlooks Stuart Hogg for the 6 Ns it will be a disgrace. Stiil we can keep him for the Robo! Cusiter, Lamont and Harley all good. Morrison bloody awful - at least on offence. He could not catch a bloody cold. Weir OK but Jackson got the line moving despite Morrison's best efforts to knock on, on every occasion. Barclay lokked back on form too. Big Al very belligerent. Good win against a solid French team.

Schizoid (I laugh every time at your username) - what was the story with the front row? It sounds fecking terrible. Didn't we replace two thirds of it early in the second half?

Hogg is a must for the 6 Nations on current form. Not for the squad, but to start at 15. He still has plenty to learn, but no other Scottish 15 is playing as well as he is at the moment. It's a no brainer.

The boy is rapid! Apparently the fastest player in the Warriors squad. He should have really passed to Weir when he made that break down the left though. Great result, we had them pinned back for quite a while and they were throwing speculative passes due to the pressure. Shame they managed to get that try at the end and get the LBP. Would have been good to deny them that. It's fine though, another win this Saturday, then against Leinster and Bath and we're golden!

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
Another positive from the game was the attendance 5,287
Glasgow's biggest of the season so far, and nice to see a gradual rise in overall figures.
Hopefully they can a huge crowd for the Edinburgh game? They got over 7,000 last year. Maybe hit 9 / 10k?

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
A win is a win and to still be in the HC at the halfway stage, not playing anywhere near our best in any of the games is a sign in of how far we have come!
Dissapointed not to deny them the LB, we showed a real green streak in the past couple of weeks. In the last two weeks we have had possession with time running out and twice we have kicked ball away. It cost us 2pts last week and effectively one yesterday.
Hogg was a big positive, as was lamont when he finally got the ball in the second half. 4 to 7 were all excellent, although front row got taught a lesson and Wilson needs "rested".
Starting half backs were fine, but the centres offered nothing in attack. Morrison has gone backwards in recent months, but the lack of any threat at 13 is not helping. That said his constant losing the ball in contact is unacceptable. DTH's injury is really hurting us, he could have covered for the loss of max Evans, but alas we are left with very few attacking options in midfield.
Can't believe that hogg was in the papers at the weekend almost begging the SRU to offer him a full time deal. What else do they want the lad to do.
Good to see Jackson back, I thought he got the backline moving when he came on.
Decent crowd. I did not make it and was forced to watch the game on the red button where we forced to listen to Scott Hasting constantly refer to us as Scotlamd and his Irish side kick constantly refer to how the current score either helped or hindered Leinster. No offence , but I am sure anyone who gave two flying f's about Leinster would have been watching them on the other channel!

George,
1st half front row gash and spun and pushed all over the place. Believe it or not way better with Kalman and Hall on - they really made a big difference and Hall throwing was ok - the lineout was excellent throughout - typical Big Al Kellock display. Jon Welsh a wee bit unlucky to get pinged in the first half. That wee fat guy Cusack was awful. Still a wins a win and all that.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
The scrum did look better when the subs came on, but I think their changes weakened their front row. Grant has been very unlucky to lose his place since Welsh has came back. Been over a year since Welsh has put a decent run of form together.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
With the scrums is there an issue with Grey and Kelloch - two big lads like that but not managing to lock the scrum / give it some oompf? Seemed to happen in the WC as well - It just seems to me that everytime those two are at 4 and 5 the scrum is rubbish?

TJ,
who are Grey and Kelloch - oh you mean Gray and Kellock Well the scrum improved in the 2nd half and they were still on so your theory is somewhat shaky. Bit like your spelling really

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
I think the score line flattered Montpellier a bit. They were under huge amounts of pressure in the second half and at points were throwing wild passes just to get the ball out their hands. If it weren’t for the errors from the Glasgow players the score could have been a lot better.
Will Lineen make any big changes to the team for Saturday? I don’t expect any, perhaps bring Nathan into 12 as Morrison was useless again and maybe Beattie on the bench. He decide to change the front three as well since they got a bit of a beating. Are we looking at being able to sneak a win away from home? A LBP is certainly possible, but can we go all the way and take 4 points?

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Montpellier Herault
I would bring Beattie into the starting xv. He was one of our few decent performers against the dragons. I would bring in grant for welsh and bring low into the 23.
Would not be disappointed to see Nathan come in for gdog. Also murchie did little at 13 but what other options are there?
Hopefully budgie comes back from the 7s fit as we could do with him on the bench, I don't rate pygros at all.

Being honest I can't see us making the hc 1/4s. However we do have a shot at the amlin and to do that we will need at least 2 wins and Saturday looks the best chance. I am sure they will strengthen their team so we will need to improve a lot on Sundays performance.

Yeah he was a standout in that game for me. I'd also like to see Weir and Denton included in 6 nations and don't forget Jack Cuthbert! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCxuE9OLzxY
