Frank Warren has his say on Khan!!
Frank Warren believes Amir Khan will have his work cut out to beat American Lamont Peterson in a rematch.
Khan is lodging a complaint after Peterson snatched his WBA and IBF light-welterweight belts with a split-decision win in Washington DC.
But Warren said: "He was making extremely hard work of what a lot of people felt would be quite comfortable."
"I think the rematch will be a tougher fight for him because Peterson is holding all the cards now."
"All this hysteria about he's going to be the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet is a bit premature and I really don't think he should be going up a weight to even think about Mayweather unless he was looking for a big payday.
"His defence is not as good as it should be. He went to America to work on that and to me it's not something that seems to be successful as far as he's concerned."
"I think more importantly if there is a rematch, what I was concerned with was how easy Peterson, who is not a big, big puncher, was finding it to catch Khan, especially with the right hand.
"It seems to me in his last few fights, against (Marcos) Maidana and Peterson, he's making real tough work of fights people thought he would win much easier."
What do people think is Warren being bitter coz Khan left his company to go to america or does he have a point? Tbh I thought Khan would beat Peterson so I think Warren is right about that but would Warren being saying this is Khan was stil his fighter? Imo he would not I think he would be saying it was a robbery!! Lets not forget the Chisora fight which was also a robbery Warren was not blaming Chisora for that!

Mr Warren being fair, objective and totally unbiased as always.
Can't really take his opinions on former fighters of his with much more than a pinch of salt, even if the points he makes are correct in some instances.

He has just pointed out what the rest of us have already said.

I don't think so, no. Wouldn't really be in Warren's nature.
On a more serious note, Ol' Frank Warren does have a point. As others have already alluded to, Khan seems to slip in to fighting the other guy's fight all too regularly, even though he tends to hold significant advantages over them at 140 lb. Peterson fought out of his skin, but Khan made things a lot tougher for himself than he need have.

Warren, as often is the case, is right but in a knife twisting, bitter kind of way.
A genuine top pound for pound fighter should not have struggled as badly as Khan did in those two fights.

Ok Warren now let's hear you being honest about Degale wanting a world title shot?

Warren also said the fight was close and could have gone either way, which normally said when someone is robbed.
I have no doubts Warren is laughing his head off at Khan losing and i'm sure he'll throw some small digs here and there but everything in the quotes posted by Waingro above are not biased or incorrect for me.
I've recorded the fight and haven't watched yet so have reserved judgement on the whole affair of the fight but Warren will have a big smile for the rest of the year!

You'll enjoy it Valero, it was a good one despite Khan's flaws.

Just imagine how pleased he'll be if Froch loses Saturday, we will have only two "world" champions and they are both with him, he will be insufferable.

Its the WBO, to a Warren fighter such distinctions matter very little.

As Fists said, you can never truly believe what Warren says about fighters who have left him.
I quite enjoy reading his short column in The Sun after a former fighter of his has fought and won and think 'how is he going to put a negative spin in this.' He doesn't usually disappoint!

Can imagine if Froch loses to Ward we'll hear plenty about how he's always been overrated and how he's running from a showdown with DeGale, in much the same way that Haye ran from a showdown with Matt Skelton.

I think Warren is right. Khan is easy to hit and is only talking up Mayweather because he wants a big money pay day.

"All this hysteria about he's going to be the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet is a bit premature..."
...and yet it seemed perfectly acceptable to say this just prior to Khan's life or death struggle with Willie Limond didn't it, Frank?
Khan should push for a rematch and sod the fee. When he boxed behind the jab he nullified Peterson with ease and if he keeps his focus/sticks to what he does best, he dominates Lamont in the rematch (irrespective of where it's held). Peterson clearly isn't the biggest puncher in the World but Khan seemed to abandon any semblence of head movement at times. Peterson also came forward in straight lines and, with a bit of thought, Khan could have walked him onto any number of straight rights, hooks and uppercuts.
That being said, it was a great fight and this aspect seems to have been forgotten in all the hoo-haa!

Just read it on the BBC. Like the way Frank twists the knife in when a non-Warren or past-Warren British boxer fails. He was absolutely having a field day when Haye lost to Wlad, you could sense the relish in his musings!
