Wilkinson's Replacement Empty Wilkinson's Replacement

With Jonny retiring from international rugby, who do you think should replace him in the EPS as back up to Toby Flood and why?

Charlie Hodgson - First choice fly half at Saracens, in good form. But on the wrong side of 30.

Owen Farrell - Currently playing at 13 for Saracens, in top goal kicking form, although question marks remain on his game management at 10.

Freddie Burns - Top prospect, playing very well for Gloucester with solid goal kicking and a top notch kicking game, a bit raw and weak in defence.

Ryan Lamb - Keeping Myler out of the Saints side, looks back to his creative best although can he make the transition to international rugby?

Stephen Myler - Mr consistent. Although he's fallen behind Ryam Lamb in the saints pecking order.

Danny Cipriani - Has made himself available for England in the six nations, although no form to go on and consistently weak in defence.

Rory Clegg - A good player, but barely features for Quins due to the form of Nick Evans.

If Hodgson is going to have Barritt outside him and Robshaw or Wood coming round on the flank...then there shouldnt be a problem defensively now...

Add in that Barritt and Tuilagi are tough old boys....then Hodgson can use his undoubted ability to get them moving...in to the gaps etc and hurt other teams.

The problem is he never seams to cope with the step up...maybe this time it will be different.

Hodgsons the safe option but youd want one other 10 in the EPS. Myler is right out the picture, a big dissapointment. Cipriani is ridiculous and wont be picked while hes in aus even if the coach is in love with him. Farrell needs to be playing 10 for his club but could make the eps anyway as a utility back and for development. Clegg not remotely in the picture i wouldnt have thought. Lamb would be a big suprise, hes never really convinced as a consistently good Jeff player let alone an international. Burns has been sniffed at before, hes a good player playing well...he could be the young gun.
I wouldnt be suprised to see one of Burns or Farrell in the EPS alongside Flood and Hodgson
