Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
Despite Ryan's return to form I would like to see Shingler given a shot. He has allot of potential and the type of ball carrier he is is what is needed in the AI's imo. I'd have Ryan on the bench as the utility forward and as an impact sub.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
I have a real feeling it will either be Josh Navidi that gets the call up into the squad as the cover.
And as for the matchday sides I think it may be Tipuric that reaplaces Lydiate in the no. 6 jersey, and bit like the Navidi and Warburton expeciments at the Blues, with someone like Ryan Jones on the bench to come on if a more traditional blindside is required. I would rather see the back row have Shingler or Turnbull replace Lydiate, however honestly I do think the coaches will plump for Tipuric.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
Dan is a massive tackler, unrelentless.
Do we find someone like for like or go with someone more athletic like Shingler ?
Would a back row of Shingler Tips and Faletau be too lightweight ?

What about Warbs, or in your opinion does Tips get in ahead of Warbs?

Will have to see how they both do on the Heino games coming up I guess. Even Sam has said he doesn't know if he'll be captain or not. If the Captain isnt the best player in his position then he shouldnt be Captain IMO

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
I feel Warbs has done decent so far for the Blues in the games I have seen. Slowly getting back to form after injury after injury. Game time can be a priceless way of getting back to form and it seems to be working for Warbs. However, if he isn't showing form before the AB'S/Aus games then I would then seriously consider Tips.

If Shingler was to start, i think it should be with Ryan at 8. That would add more balance

If Warbs didnt start, Id probabaly start Ryan and give him the Captain's armband.
If Warbs is Capatain and therfore 6/7 then Ryan is far too useful on the bench

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
Either Ryan to start or Warbs to 6. Depends on the opposition though, we don't want to be playing two open-sides against NZ. Shingler will be there abouts. I wanna see him at number 8 for the Scarlets at some point.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
I believe the Wales must pick the strongest team against a battle hardened Arg team with Ryan at 6, Toby at 8 and Warbs at 7 but more important we need our best front 5 i.e., Paul James, Richard Hibbard, Adam Jones, Ian Evans and Alun Jones.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
I would say give Shingler a crack but feel it will be R Jones, though some seem to want Warbs at 6 with Tipuric at 7.
Alun,
I still think our best 2nd row combo is Evans and Charteris, though not sure how Luke is going this season.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
Convinced it will be Shingler with Ryan on the bench which makes sense as Ryan continues to show form towards the end of his career and is an excellent utility/impact/leader to have come on in the last 30.
I also think Warbs will be given a try out at 6 as Tips has to get his day at 7 at some point

If the Welsh management took that attitude we would not pick:
Preistland, the last minute kick plus missing lots of Tackles and kicks
AWJones, trip at Twickers
Bradley Davies, should have been sent off for spear tackle
Hook, played crap the last few games at the RWC due to lack of game time at 10
S Jones, as above but even worse
Warburton, sent off
etc, etc. you could put a case for all the players at some point.
Hibbard is currently the form hooker, Owens was blown away against Ospreys, not sure he is first choice as Rees is getting the call to beef up the front row.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
the siginficant difference between all the players you list above is that they have consistently been above average or better for wales whereas hibberd has been a perpheral member of the squad and came on and lifted the collective skirt directly causing us to lose a key game.

They'll most likely rest him against Scotland and Italy, but i'm more than certain he'll play against England and us.

Re: Dan Lydiate's Autumn Replacement
So 2 7's against NZ might be useful ? Or is it pointless trying to compete against the teflon flanker ?
