I know but when he booked the wedding he didn't know that - I suspect the club gave him a lift anyway

Anyone know anything of this young Peter Nelson lad. I know he is highly thought of in that he benched for the first team against Glasgow at the start of the season and he is only out of school. Seems to be scoring trys for fun for the ravens and is also a kicker.
Could he be the long term answer to 15?
Will we see him against Leinster following on from Rodders point. Im headin down on boxing day. Really looking forward to it although i expect a sound beating

I have no idea who he is really. He isn't in the academy squad, on the ulster website, apparently..

Did Nelson not play in one of the friendlies? He was in the HEC squad when Payen was injured?

He was. He came on at the end of the first game of the season against Glasgow i believe. Still for someone who is apparently just out of school he seems to be getting positive reports.

I have heard he is the Great Red Hope at 15.
Sounds like a very talented player and has the most eye wateringly ginger hair you have ever seen.
Even Jim Neilly would not be able to mix him up with any of the current squad!

Not yet Stag but 11 trys in two games will help. I sense the Munster and Leicester fixtures will be the first time we get a chance to properly see where we stand as we will be sending a young team to Leinster. I watched the first half at the weekend and although the pack were excellent we still are looking very unsure in the backs.

Stag - no.
We are in the calm "eye" of the crisis, before we face more howling crisis-winds on the other side.

Stag the crisis will only end when the HEC trophy is back at Ravenhill where it belongs and the natural order of Irish rugby is restored...

Nelson is indeed a very exciting prospect for 15.
I think he is a shoe in for the Academy for next year and over the next couple of years will start to get some games.
We have to definitely rest Best and Ferris for one game, possibly more.
Not so sure about Court and Trimble.
I think one of the two teams will be weaken - hopefully Leinster away as we made the mistake, last year, of making it the home game and ended up losing both.
Afoa, Muller, Pienaer and Terblanche are interesting as they have hardly played that much - they may well play both games.
I also think Marshall 9 and Pienaer 10 is being considered as a possible experiment.
Luke Marshall will get some game time somewhere - probably resting Spence as his body needs a break.

Leinster could be pretty strong as D'Arcy didn't start and as usual theyve good options in the front row with Healy and Cronin sitting out this weekend
On a side not what haves everyone made of Caldwell at Bath? Seen him a few times this season and hes impressed me commentators made some passing comment about him heading back to Ireland to get into the international team

Geoff,
Do you mean that Nelson will definately get a second year in the academy?
Surely he has an Academy contract already, no?

Caldwell has signed a 2 year contract and his kids (or step kids) are just settling at school so I think that is just paper talk. He is clearly enjoying his rugby at Bath and would not leave imo.

Yep that is what I meant
I meant to imply I can see next year being his last Academy year i.e a development contract in 2013-14

There is a reasonably well grounded rumour regarding a new player for next year that would blow your heads away.
I am talking as good as they get
I need to sit down I am all of a quiver.
Sorry but given who we are talking about I cannot reveal a name at this stage.
Sorry to be such a tease but I really can't

I really cant but some clues:
NIQ - not Welsh !
Explains why Pienaer and Wannenberg's contracts are on hold.
Contract up next year, cousin of an ex Ulster player (seriously impressed if someone works that one out) and best of mates with a current Ulster player.
If we can find the money to resign Pienaer and signed this guy I would be in heaven.
It would have to be goodbye Wanneberg and goodbye Danielli - no question.
