India Vs Australia Test series
with big Border-Gavaskar trophy starting on 26th , who do you think will win
I think australia will win 2-1 or 2-2 ( i am indian by the way)
I dont think zaheer and ishant will last a full series and i dont think other bowlers are good enough (Ashwin and umesh yadav will do well i guess but they need support )
indian batsmen will do well if not great , pattinson should get wickets , i dont expect siddle, starc to get many wickets as they dont do much with the ball.
Lyon will get hammered , if sehwag and gambhir can survive initial stages then Lyon would bowl the worst spells of his career so far (sehwag had butchered murali, saqlain and warne , lyon is nothing infront of them)
i expect ponting to score runs and watson , i expect clarke to fail as his style of playing drives away from body would induce edges against 125-135 indian swing bowling
tendulkar will score 100th hundred , dravid will score good and laxman will struggle as there would side ways movement ,
dhoni will fail i guess - so would hadding

This is India's best chance to win in Aus and I reckon they will by one test if India can build scoreboard pressure with their batsmen.

I agree but indian batting has been off colour in the last 1 2months
sehwag,gambhir - out of form
vvs,sachin-scratchy
dhoni- ordinary in tests
that leave sout dravid and kohli- a rookie
thats our problem

i agree that BCCI is wrong but , if other boards cant man up and stand up to BCCI its their fault as well , dont just blast BCCI

UDRS CANT BE USED IN A SERIES UNLESS BOTH TEAMS AGREE, AND ITS ALWAYS INDIA THAT DECLINE, AND WE HAVE PROOF AS ALL TEST NATIONS SAY THAT THEY WANT IT APART FROM INDIA.

Is it not being made compulsory?

3-0 to Australia, Clarke and Ponting to have very good batting series. Can not see the Indian attack taking 20 wickets. Pretty much the same as in England.

EWhy dont they stop playing india and tell india that with out UDRS they are not ready to play??
Why should they agree to play with out UDRS????
@stella
you are right form comes back with one innings and bounce is not a problem but bounce with side ways movemment is a problem
im seriously worried about gambhir's form , he was once a very reliable batsman now has become a confidence less guy who pokes at the ball alot

i am sticking my neck out and saying australia wont win by more than a test's margin
indian batsmen traditionally do well in australia compared to england and austrlaian batsman are not in good form or not that great

mr cricketfan
its not respectful to use caps and i thought u would know that , being a blogger for some time.
i thought i did agree that bcci are at fault but what i am pointing out is how about others standing up and teaching bcci a lesson and taking the valid points bcci are raising about udrs on board .
if you wish to converse with caps lock on , please dont bother

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
I suspect India's stance on the DRS is more down to the senior players, who don't like it for some reason. Fletcher seems quite keen on it (I remember one of his first press conferences where he started to defend it and suggest he would like it to be used generally, before he was shouted down), so I think we'll see it fully implemented when the more senior players (Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman) retire.
On this series, I think India will struggle as their bowling looks very weak at the mo. Khan isn't fit, or even close to being fit enough to play a five day test. Sharma is on crutches, Kumar is out. That leaves very little in the way of seam bowling options. Chances are Aus will prepare wickets that don't assist the spinners very much (as with last winter's Ashes), so I can see India struggling to get 20 wickets. However, Aus are prone to collapses at the moment with the bat, and have their own issues with their top order. Should make for an interesting series.

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
It's really pretty dreadful that India won't agree to the DRS and the only hope is that they get some really awful decisions in the Aussie series.
As for the series - the Aussie loss to NZ shows that they've still got some way to go. With the emergence of some new talent, Aus seem to have more problem with their batting than their bowling at the moment. Could go either way (now there's a decisive comment !)

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
Australia 'squad of 13' to be announced shortly. I don't think Watson will play but they'll probably still name him in the squad to give him as much time as possible. Personally, I think they should just bite the bullet and put Ed Cowan in the side.
I'm in a bit of a quandary... my heart says Oz 2-1 but my head is haunted by our recent performances (Capetown and Hobart). Even with India's injury worries with their bowling - I'm still concerned we'll find ways to throw away our wickets even against a skeleton attack.
indianfan... I have a strong feeling Sachin will get his 100th hundred here in Sydney. I'll be there for sure on Day 4... maybe Day 1 as well. The Swamy Army should be in full voice. Best of luck in the Series!

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
Squad just announced... no Watson, Harris, Hughes, Khawaja
Clarke (C)
Warner
Cowan
Marsh
Ponting (Pattinson injured his thumb in the nets today... nothing too serious)
Hussey
Christian
Haddin
Siddle
Pattinson
Starc
Hilfenhaus
Lyon
The final lineup will depend a lot on Marsh's availability. Either him at 3 or Christian at 6.
Also either Starc or Hilfenhaus... one will miss out.
Watson's calf is still not right so they're resting him until the 2nd Test
Harris ruled himself out this morning
Clarke (C)
Warner
Cowan

Katich imo was never going to happen. Good to see Cowan given a chance.
I would like to see:

Ponting
Clarke
Hussey

I always look forward to India touring, and regardless of us being quite pants, it's good to have the Indian team back. I'm sure there'll be controversy yet again, as always, but some good days as well.

Let's hope so, Boomeranga, should be an interesting series with neither side at their strongest.
Re: India Vs Australia Test series
I do think that this is the weakest Australian team in the modern era, but i still feel that not only will the mental side of cricket will come into it for India (India have only ever won two Tests in Aus) but also that India's bowling will be put to the sword. And hence India failing to win in Aus once again.
Just a few points about the Indian bowling: Zaheer Khan, despite being India's best bowler has not completed any of his last three overseas tours, not a good sign for India. Ishant Sharma may well go the same way because he seems to be carrying an injury niggle of which India appeared to be trying to protect by not giving him many overs in the warm-up games. And Ashwin has not played an away series, and Aus has a reputation for being a place of bowling nightmares for finger spinners. So from a bowling angle I think this tour could go downhill for India very quickly.

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
Depending on the pitches, the series could go either way. If they are flat roads, then India's batting line up is considerably better than Australia's.
Swinging pitches would benefit Australia, but their batting has struggled in recent times.
Australia's main threat is a rookie, James Pattinson. Lyon may well get hammered, I don't believe he's better than Hauritz.
India will be relying on their powerhouse batting unit. Yadav maybe a very useful in Australian conditions. Ishant and Zaheer will get injured.
Australia to win 2-0 in flat conditions. Seaming pitches 4-0.

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
I think the Australian bowling attack is better than the Indian bowling attack, but then India has a stronger batting line up.
I agree Oz needs lively wikcets to swing the balance in their favour.

Re: India Vs Australia Test series
Finding it difficult to predict this.
India clearly stronger in batting , and Australia just look a bit fragile at present , so I think they must see this as a wonderful chance for a first ever series win in Aus , which would mean a lot to the like of Tendulkar and Dravid on surely their last visit.
However I am not too sure about the Indian bowling : can Zaheer really be match fit on the handful of overs he has bowled lately? And Ishant is clearly carrying an injury , which could make 4 matches on hard grounds a very tough prospect... could test the reserves.
India's best chance is probably to make mountains of runs and hope scoreboard pressure causes an Aussie collapse or two - which could well happen.
Weather forecast and pitch predictions suggest whoever bowls first will have a chance to get off to a very good start so day one may be crucial. I hope the match is well poised after two days on the selfish basis that I am going on day 3 ...

Even though I am English, I hope (and think) the Aussies will win. India's attack is toothless, 2 or 3-0 to Australia is my prediction.
