Re: The Aviva Cup
Ok guys cup starts this week so a refresher on the rules:
1. There is no prize money for winning the cup
2. Prediction bonus is available as per usual
3. Squad selection restrictions per usual, 8 EQ 4 minimum starting
4. Top 4 seeds advance to the semi's i.e. Group winners and the best placed runners up... where it will be Seed 1 v Seed 4 and Seed 2 v Seed 3.
5. If there is a tie at the end of the group stage the tie breaker will be as follows: 1. Tries For 2. Points Difference 3. Bonus Points
6. The final and third place playoff will take place at Twickenham
7. As in real life with the Anglo Welsh Cup, the final English Heniken cup place will go to the cup winners. If the cup winners happen to qualify by way of the league then this spot will go the highest placed unqualified team in the league (6th I think but could be wrong!!).
This puts some importance on the cup and should hopefully prevent it from becoming just a reserve team cup as it offers a guranteed spot in to Europe next year which will be hard to come by in the league with realisticlly everyone in with a chance still of finishing Top 5...

Re: The Aviva Cup
You might struggle with those separators if teams are level on points, as with only 3 games any teams level on points will have the same number bonus points.
1. Head to head record (if in same pool)
2. Points difference
would probably be a better way to go.
Just a suggestion which I won't be offended if it's ignored.

Re: The Aviva Cup
Will these pool tables be updated before this weeks matches so everyone knows if they have achance of qualifying as that might have an effect on team selection?

Re: The Aviva Cup
Current Seedings
1. London Wasps
2. London Irish
3. Exeter Chiefs
4. Saracens
Giving Semi's of:
London Wasps v Saracens @ Wycombe
London Irish v Exeter Chiefs @ Reading
No side is mathematically fully qualified yet although Wasps with a good points difference and home advantage this week are definately favourites to win Group 3.
Group 2 is looking like a straight shoot out between Exeter Chiefs and Sale Sharks with the winner of that game likely to top the group.
Group 1 sees Irish as favourites but they will need a win away to Worcester to be certain of topping the group with Saracens breathing down their necks.
The best runners up spot is wide open with Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors the only sides no longer in running for qualification to the semi finals.

Re: The Aviva Cup
I didn't realise I had a chance of going through. Would you reconsider your selection SJE, so you could possibly do the Falcons a favour

I'm in a weird position, where I wasn't that bothered about it, but I don't like losing!
