Sergio Martinez has to be in this list.

Given how he looked against Barker I'd suggest not. Then again Manny's in at 10 and he got shown up by JMM for not having a plan B and/or being able to adapt, skills Mr #1 spot has in abundance.

martinez let's boxers come onto his left, and although very good, i think after barker he is out. he looked clueless at times against european opposition. pacman is in as he has has easily outdone all opponents of late, apart from JMM, his bogeyman. remember how he worked cotto out so easily, marg, shane, although shane wanted none of it, ricky, although ricky fights with his face...

Surely coming back from looking less than on top to take your opponent out is part of bing great at unlocking someone? Like Mayweather losing early against Judah but eventually winning dominantly.
If a guy has to be unlocked then there must have been an issue in the first place to be overcome.

not sure how wlad makes the list. great at what he does, but often left frustrated when he could turn it up a gear and cant find a way. bradley, morales and martinez should all be ahead of him

Martinez still knocked out Barker though who was very defensive. Donaire didn't manage to do the same to Narvaez, who was also very defensive.
The fact that he cracked paul williams code and flattened him in the rematch says otherwise.

Pacquiao overwhelms his opponent rather than unlocks them, didn't exactly unlock Mosely, Clottey or Marquez three very different fighters whereas Martinez unlocked Pavlik, Williams and Dzinziruk, three very different fighters.

The people who 'figure out' another fighter tend to be counter punchers, they start off slow and then pull away, Martinez, Mayweather, Marquez, Donaire.

Re: Top Ten Fighters That Unlock An Opponent
Agree with most apart from Pacquiao. Why is he on there? He does not unlock opponents and only has one style. Com forward good footwork throws thousands of punches and blocks shots with his face (if you can hit him!). Hopkins for me should be 3rd. Agree with Mayweather and Marquez. Adrian Broner? Really? Id have Ricky Burns. Fought Martinez and Katisids. One boxer puncher the other a brawler. Showed heart and will to beat both. Broner however reminds me of a mini Mayweather when i see him! Maybe a future " top ten unlocker" but surely not atm!

I'm not sure what the article is meant for. You can't have guys like Malignaggi on there as they've lost a number of fights - guys who "unlock" styles don't lose masses of fights. In summary just pick 10 guys from across the divisions who haven't really come close to losing and don't have trouble with "one style" and you've got your list.
