Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow team for tomorrow:
15 Peter Murchie
14 Tommy Seymour
13 Rob Dewey
12 Graeme Morrison (captain)
11 David Lemi
10 Ruaridh Jackson
9 Henry Pyrgos
1 Jon Welsh
2 Fergus Thomson
3 Moray Low
4 Rob Verbakel
5 Tom Ryder
6 Rob Harley
7 Chris Fusaro
8 Ryan Wilson
SUBSTITUTES
16 Finlay Gillies
17 Gordon Reid
18 Ed Kalman
19 Calum Forrester
20 Johnnie Beattie
21 Murray McConnell
22 Alex Dunbar
23 Scott Wight
A load of first team players rested - this looks like official policy now, quasi-player rest management, for any Rabo away games, not sure I agree with that. The dynamic duo back in midfield

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
We were always going to rest players either side of the HC and 1872 games. Rested most the team against the Dragons and now the Scarlets.
With two big HC games and the 6 Nations to follow, the internationals most likely to make the England game were going to be rested.
Half Decent pack, but backs are poor and the bench is very weak.
Can see a Scarlets BP win.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
I dunno DM, we've not been scoring all that many tries recently.
It was to be expected that Glasgow would rest players at some point over the Christmas/new Year.
I just hope the Scarlets don't go into this underestimating them at all. We've done that before against teams when we've put a strong side out to their "weaker" one and have suffered losses on the back of it.
We need to get a good solid win here in prep for the HEC next weekend. Not only that but we have a chance of getting into the top 4 in the Pro12 for the first time this season, so really, really want us to win!

Don't like this at all. NO weir at all? Does that mean he willplay against England and Robbo has asked for him to be rested or does it scupper his chances?
Seems odd.

Team to face Glasgow - Saturday 7th Jan KO 6.15pm / Tim i wynebu Glasgow - Sadwrn 7fed Ion CG 6.15pm:
15 Newton, 14 North, 13 S Williams, 12 J Davies, 11 Lamont, 10 Priestland, 9 G Davies, 1 I Thomas, 2 Rees (c), 3 Manu, 4 Reed, 5 Day, 6 McCusker, 7 Edwards, 8 Morgan REPS: 16 Owens, 17 R Jones, 18 R Thomas, 19 Turnbull, 20 Shingler, 21 R Williams, 22 S Jones, 23 Iongi
Really, really pleased with that. Surprised we're starting with Manu but guess Rhys T needs a bit of a rest. Love our backrow and am pleased with our bench. Happy.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
I agree with resting player for this one - makes complete sense. The big games are the HC and the 1872 games (someone tell Mike Bradley) and players can't play each and every game.
I'm pleased about the front row selection, three players we really need to see come back into some form.
Should be a comfortable win for the Scarlets, but you can't write off Glasgow this season. They've pulled off some unlikely results and there are some good players in that side.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow have been tough for anyone to beat this season, regardless of what side they've put out, so I'd hope the Scarlets don't underestimate them. We also really, really need our backline to start clicking, it's been sputtering along all season but not ever worked properly. That needs to start happening asap.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
Dreamer - do you think that Nigel tries to keep Rhys Thomas and Jonny Edwards separated so that we only have one penalty machine on the pitch at a time? Because I must be honest that is what crossed my mind when I saw Edwards was starting and Thomas was benched.
I am really happy about the quality we have on the bench though. We have a heap of grunt/fetching/carrying ability in the pack to bring on to replace any tiring legs.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
could be a good theory that SS!
To be fair to Rhys T though, he's curbed his penalty giving ability this season, well...most of the time anyway.
Hope we get more of a look at Iongi too, we've only seen small glimpses so far.

Keep your mits off Asbo!
Why don't Scotland just develop their own players for change instead?

Looks a good side - was hoping Turnbull would be in the side and could have slotted in at 7
I really expected Stevie to play, but I suppose Priestland needs some games before the HEC.
I get the feeling our backline hasn't clicked at all is because of the amount of chopping and changing with player availability, and as a result we haven't had a settled or consistent line-up all season - hopefully now and for the next few games they can start clicking and bring out the great passing and movement we know and love

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
Yeah I'd agree with that Priest. Our forwards have had time to work together since September. Our backs only had the end of October before players were called away again. So what we're looking at that at the turn of the new year, our squad had finally been together for a full month without interruptions?
Mental when you look at it like that.
Really hope Scott plays a blinder tomorrow, he's been a bit poor this season in his decision making, so hope he ups his game.

I hope Scott plays better too
I still can't believe how many internationals (for most Pro12 clubs) have played less than 3 league games all season - it's a crazy way to organise a season

It is a bit mental, I mean this will be what Rhys' 2nd start in the Pro12 isn't it? crazy crazy. Still our "back up" players have actually put in better performances then our "stars" in the Pro12, so perhaps we shouldn't complain about it too much!

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
Yeah the strength in depth we're developing is pretty amazing when you compare to 3 years ago and it's great that we've got Warren and Maule ready and waiting to replace JD2 and Williams (if selected), Liam, Lee, Stodds, North, Schlong, Fenby, Ionghi and then Evans for the back 3.
It's very good - but when you look at the hap-hazard way the internationals (for most countries) have been played throughout this season it's no wonder most of them aren't playing well.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
yeah there's been no consistency for them at all, and then all the fans are expecting them to play brilliantly after next to no game time, tis all a bit ridiculous really.
Still, the Scarlets squad has had an uninterrupted 6 weeks together now, so we really should be starting to really flow as a team. I hope so anyways, we could really do with putting in a great performance.
Am very weary of Glasgow though, they're a tough side. Wathched their first match of the Christmas period against Edinburgh and was quite impressed. A team that plays to the very last and difficult to kill of so we'll see. Jackson is pretty handy with the boot as well from what I recall so we'll have to watch out discipline (Jedwards take note!).

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
I was thinking the same - am worried Edwards penalities might loose us the game - but still even though Glasgow are a very good side - we should be looking at ourselves and thinking we must win this if we're serious about improving not because Glasgow are poor but because all our players need to playing pretty good, and if they do we should win.

Re: Scarlets vs Glasgow Warriors
Agree with that Priest. This is a game we should definitely be targetting to win, but then I think that of all our home games, regardless of the opposition!
Glasgow do make me nervous though, they're exactly the sort of team we seem to come a cropper against.
Am a bit gutted though I won't get to see the likes of Cusiter and Barclay playing though, they're two of my fave Scottish players.

That's good if he has - I'm not expecting him to be brilliant but if something happens to either Williams or G Davies then we'd be in trouble, at least now we might have someone to challenge R Williams (if G Davies got injured) - but then again we could always play Lee Williams there!

Morrison and Dewey!?!!
Lineen must go at the end of the season. once was enough for that pairing. twice was criminal, whatever time this is should be a sacking.

Blasphemy! Morrison and Dewey are the most dynamic centre combination available! I can't keep a straight face typing that 45 Scotland caps between them. Bloody disgraceful.

Sorry I meant no disrespect to Glasgow. But it is good to see the likely HEC team out for Scarlets prior to next weekend.

Yeah I feel he can really offer some depth to the Welsh squad if say Lydiate or Warbs is injured (who knows what we're going to do if Toby is injured now Morgans gone - especially after tonights performance!)
