Favourite sandwich??
Did I say sandwich? Sorry, I mean sandWEDGE!
I'm looking to replace my aging Cleveland 588's with something that have grooves. I really like the look of the Ping wedges, has anyone got them or tried them? They seem to sit really nicely and feel well balanced and weighted.
If anyone has any experience of them I'd appreciate your feedback.

Changed my wedges last season to the new Mizuno wedges after a long stint with my previous wedges. Cannot recommend them enough but am also of the opinion that wedges, like putters, are very personal...

I've got CG12s, they are excellent... why not stick with cleveland and go for the CG15s?

Re: Favourite sandwich??
Haven't looked at the new CG15's but when I was looking last year I was put off straight away by how cheap newer Cleveland's look. The 588's were some of the best wedges ever made and they look so classic but after that they seemed to be sticking bits of plastic on the backs of their wedges and making them more colourful.
Probably play well as Cleveland haven't kept their reputation for nothing but I find that the wedges that I play best with are those that I love the look of and newer Clevelands just didn't fit the bill. It's very tough to buy new wedges because ideally you want to try them out but most places can only offer some taped up wedges on a range mat - not ideal!

If it was sandwich that you really meant, then it's got to be a Natalie Gulbis & Paula Creamer sandwich.

How much would that sandwich cost? Guess it would be done on an hourly basis
Also forgot to mention, I bought a pair of CG15 DSG's, really cant get on with them, hence the reason for looking at the Pings.

I'd prefer a megan fox and anne hathaway sandwich!
As for wedges, played the 588's for years and when mine were stolen I had them replaced like 4 like but they just didn't feel the same I felt I was cheating on an old mistress with them a shinier new version of the old one!
So I changed again last month to the new Adams range of wedges as used by Bads! Have to say they are phenomenal design input by Tom Watson and great from any lie so good I've put 3 in my bag

Its the CG14s which aren't lookers...

Not really sure, just don't seem to be able to slide the club under the ball the way I can with the 588's. I guess that has lead to a lack of confidence with them. I also find them a bit inconsistent distance wise on full shots, sometimes the 54 degree will go 90 yards other times 70 with the same swing, just seems to pop up.

D4S,
Currently got a Ping Tour-W wedge in the bag, it's 52 Degrees, got to say it's impressive, well worth trying out.

Furry muff,,, do the has the dsg ones or thr regular ones. The dsg ones are supposed to make it easier when opening the face...
You cant be doing with the differing yardages though... i may consider vokey next time i upgrade but it wont before a while after i just re-sahfted my cg12s after i bent one playing out of a ditch

Bizarre I know because the DSG sole is meant to make it easier to slide the club under. Guess it's just a mental thing on my part.
Stuart, thanks for that. Really like the look of the Pings, they seem to sit really nicely behind the ball, look spot on when looking down at address

Tuna and Mayo - but can get a bit messy if eating and walking.
Love the Ping MB wedges - right on the money for accuracy

D4S,
Close run thing for me between Ping and Vokey, just felt the ping sat better for me. I'll watch this space and see how you get on.

cheese and pickle - otherwise vokeys - ping are very light so lead tape would be needed.

ham and coleslaw - the weight of the Ping Tour wedges seemed fine when I tried them but I was only chipping on an indoor mat. Will bear that in mind when UI get to try them on full swings

It's not that pings are light... it's that vokeys are heavy.
I think the cleveland and ping wedges weigh around the same.

Talking of Natalie Gulbis... Has anyone noticed that there is a video of her working out on youtube?

Re: Favourite sandwich??
Can still get the 588s new on eBay for ~£50. Vokeys for me TBH but the 588s would be a close second.
As for weight differences between Vokeys and Ping - nonsense. Ping are D2 to D6 (depending on loft) whereas Vokey are D2 to D5.

Re: Favourite sandwich??
Navy those numbers you quoted are swingweights and have nothing to do with how heavy a club is

Nooo?!? Really??
Of course not in a literal sense. But the absolute clubhead weight doesn't mean a great deal on its own.

Re: Favourite sandwich??
You think not?
Funny thing is that my driver weighs a lot... but swingweights at around D2.
And yet anyone who picks it up makes a statement over the weight of the thing.
If weight were not something that means a great deal on it's own you wouldn't have the same shaft in different weight models. Or people adding lead to both the head and the grip of the club to maintain Swingweight but increase physical weight.
Of course it means something.
