Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
They serve it at Selfridges in London for £85 a pop so it is a real sandwich.
Or I could pick the following:
Sour dough bread
extra virgin olive oil
bespoke white truffle cheese
slices of quail's egg
heirloom black tomato
epicure apple
fresh figs
dainty mustard red frills
pea shoots
red amaranth
covered in edible gold dust
That's available for £111.95

Same as above but with Flora and not Mayonnaise. Turkey is an equally good substitute for the chicken, especially when there is loads left over after Christmas (and Thanksgiving over here).Adam D wrote:Wholemeal bread

Mayonnaise and Cranberry Sauce together on the same sandwich is just plain wrong

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
Hot choice -
Hand cut (doorstep) white bread, prefereably made at home using breadmaker
Marge
Decent quality pork sausages (grilled not fried)
Poached egg
Mushrooms
Black pudding
Tomato or Brown sauce depending on mood
Eat shirt-less, it's damn messy.

That's two for two on the cultural reference of sandwiches in the media today!
Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
Anyone have to eat crisps with their sandwiches? For years I couldn't eat a sandwich without putting a crisp in me gub at the same time. Weird, I know. Don't eat crisps any more though

Liverbnz, I don't mind a few crisps in the sandwich, adds a nice crunch and a bit of flavour into it. It's a bit of an Irish thing.

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
Wholemeal bread (thick)
Bertolli spread
thick cut ham*
sliced cheddar cheese*
diced onion*
*layered and cooked in the oven for about 15 minutes until the cheese is thoroughly melted and onion just starting to go brown.
Splashed with spicy barbecue sauce.
Is cold bread with a hot filling allowed?

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
It should be , in fact 99 times out of 100 I prefer the bread cold even with a hot filling. Had a burger at Tony Roma's the other night and they had 'toasted' the bun so much that although not actually burnt it had the consistency of dry plywood.dyrewolfe wrote:Is cold bread with a hot filling allowed?

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
Reminds me of worst ever airline meal on a cheap flight to Russia. Something gone wrong with the micro waving. So over cooked that polystyrene container and the ?fish dish inside had undergone some kind of chemical reaction and fused into a single substance....B91212 wrote: Had a burger at Tony Roma's the other night and they had 'toasted' the bun so much that although not actually burnt it had the consistency of dry plywood.
My tastes are simple:
multi- seed brown bread
no spread
very mature cheddar
cold

Nothing can beat a baguette with:
bacon
more bacon
even more bacon
two eggs fried on both sides so the yolk is solid

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
You haven't specified if baps are allowed, anyway:
Something hot:
Type of bread - honey oat wholemeal.
Spread - proper heart attack butter - Anchor's lovely.
Filling - honey roast sliced ham, Caerphilly grated cheese
Something not:
Seasame seed batch.
Spread as above.
Tomato sauce.
Pork sausages, slice them up hot, let them cool and put into the sarnie.

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
Sounds delightful. My friend absolutly loves 'plastic' type airline meals, it's a highlight of flying for him. I think he took too many drugs in his early 20's personally.Corporalhumblebucket wrote:Reminds me of worst ever airline meal on a cheap flight to Russia. Something gone wrong with the micro waving. The best airline 'meal' I remember in recent times was a sandwich I purchased on a Westjet flight down into the US about a year ago. it cost 6 bucks but was a proper new york deli sub on decent bread with loads and loads of meat filling. It was an early flight and actually kept me full until the evening. I was both shocked and impressed in equal measure.

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich?
Absolutely loving this one.
For me it would be Keema Naan stuffed with whatever curries and condiments are left over from the previous nights meal, cold.
I pray for a decent curry shop in Australia!.
