Wild Card Weekend
Evening folks,
This is the official live thread for NFL Wild Card Weekend!
The Chat Box is up on the home page if you wish to use it.
So far, the Texans are taking every opportunity that's given to them, they're playing a great game. That pick from JJ Watt was sick.

JJ Watt has been fantastic tonight, that intercept was something else.

Really enjoying the game.
Pretty happy that the Texans are looking on course for the win as I have a thing for them seeing as they joined the league when I did!
T.J Yates has played sensible and Arian Foster has been brilliant finding holes and gaining the extra yards.

What a run, and what blocking. The OL coach for the Texans must be something else...

Re: Wild Card Weekend
I didn't see the Texans winning with the form they ended the season in.
Aaron Foster proved his worth today and, I think, the Texans face the Ravens which will be a much tougher challenge.
The Bengals can be please with their season but they just seem to come up short against the better teams. A good years experience under the belt for the likes of Andy Dalton and AJ Green though.
Now hopefully the Detroit Lions can beat the Saints and leave the 49ers facing the Giants or the Falcons next week.

Re: Wild Card Weekend
A good game to start the playoffs.
Both the quarterbacks seemed nervous at the beginning and I guess you can't really blame them, but I think it came down to Yates having a run game that he could rely on to get yards even with Foster's two early fumbles. Also the Houston defense made some good plays with the 3 picks some batted down passes compared to the Cincinnati defense where the defensive backs seemed to have issues with tackling and the front 7 seemed to struggle getting pressure later in the game.
I'm going to leave watching the Saints and Lions game for the highlights tomorrow.

Think I'd gone to bed by the time you posted that message TBolt!
Drew Brees was amazing last night and Chris Ivory is so underrated.

Is Stafford as good as his numbers suggest? I think he is. Although Megatron bailed him out a bit yesterday.

Stafford made some cracking throws yesterday but yes, Johnson brings in a lot of jump balls.

Re: Wild Card Weekend
HE was 16//33 with a TD and two picks if you discount Johnson's workload. I think he is a better passer than the 09 QBs certainly but Free and Sanchez could be better Qbs. They can make plays on the run.

Re: Wild Card Weekend
You talk about talent and Sanchez? He has one of the best o-lines in football and a great defence and running game.

Re: Wild Card Weekend
Anyone else a big fan of state farm's discount double check ads? New one with Raji is as good as the first.
Scrappy game so far this evening, though the Giants running game is starting to get going a bit which could bode well for them against the Packers, assuming they get past the Falcons (which at the moment I'd say is fairly likely).

Re: Wild Card Weekend
The Lions Saints game was always going to be a shoot-out and I believe it came down to the Saints defense managing to stop the Lions scoring on a couple of drives where as the Lions secondary had a few balls which should have been picks go through their hands, Brees makes very few mistakes so you really have to take advantage of any sort of chance you get. Also quite a key thing was the play being stopped which meant the fumble couldn't be returned costing the Lions 7 points.
On Stafford I think he could be a very good quarterback but he did underthrow a couple in the game, Johnson was able to break down and go get the ball Young however fell over and it got picked. Lions don't have a consistently good running game though, I think they must be on their 4th running back this season, so it's not difficult to predict what they're going to do.
I've missed the game from roughly where the Falcons managed to get a safety, with how the game had been going up to then it wasn't really a surprise that the first points would be due to defense.

Saints have a stupidly good running game, and luckily for them they aren't all injured at this point of the season.Pr4wn wrote:Drew Brees was amazing last night and Chris Ivory is so underrated.

Covering the 3 point spread rather easily .. relying on Broncos/Steelers to score 34+ points for me to win £128 from Wild Card weekend

All I can say is TEBOWWWWWW!! That was incredible, so much for the new OT rules! Demaryius Thomas looked like Calvin Johnson at times today, what a game.

I love the way the new OT rules work in making sure the game ends in a fair way and both teams get a chance.
The NFL should really be proud of the new rules introduced tonight.

Bet whoever it was that called the toss regrets thinking "Tails never fails". Fair play to Tebow he beat the Steelers by passing the ball and passing it fairly well though his receivers were wide open some times as the safeties were often around the line of scrimmage.
