any thoughts on the selection? there is some big names missing from the list with Young, Williams, Walker, Morgan and Robinson all huge talents. However there is aslo a awfull lot of talent within the squad, Wilth Jordan Williams and Luke Morgan recent principality players of the month. Tom prydrie is a full cap. The likes of Cory Allen, Daniel Thomas, Ellis Jenkins and jac Jones i know are huge talents.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
Am a bit surprised that Morgan, Walker and Robinson not involved any reasons given as to why?

the players listed are either off with Wales sevens ( as Robinson, Patchell and Habberfields case) or would be used by the regions during the six nations. these would be Mathew Morgan, Rhodri Williams, and Eli Walker etc.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
See this is where the WRU have got it all to man sausage, wasn't identified this week (Shingler incident) that our U20s are now our 2nd string National side so wh ythe feck are players of with the 7s and also why the feck are we playing Pro12 matches during 6 Nations.
If we have to play games in this window then play LV= games and use it purely as development.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
Robinson being withdrawn is good news hopefully,
It means he will be playing for the Blues instead (he is only 18 as well)
With Cuthbert and Halfpenny away with Wales he will have a good chance to earn a starting place in the back 3, especially if Mustoe or James get injured.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
I think we could have won it if the unavailable players were available. England do well because their guys usually have some premiership experience.

OK, so how many of these chaps have Scottish mothers?
Luke Hamilton must be Scottish.

Yeah, we're sorted.

He had a very serious injury ruling him out of the world cup. I think he made his comeback around September/October.
He's been playing wing for Swansea, a position the Ospreys have plenty of cover for. So I think he should keep developing with Swansea and the U20's and hopefully he can grow into the fullback role for the Ospreys in the next 2 years.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
what seems quite worrying from the list is the lack of youngsters not associated with the regions involed. Ii can view three in Jac Hopkins, Dan crimmins and Nathan Edwards. The under 20 can be seen as the last net for all those younsters who did not make the academy grade to have a shot at regional rugby as in the recent years with Dan Fish, Liam williams and Adam Warren. Had the 10 that were not involved be avalable then perhaps we would have had zero club participation. Then again, perhaps this is proof regions are identifying talent better.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
its a very strong squad
final 30 is to be announced next week.
the 10 that are unavailable are due to Wales 7s and LV Cup squad members and will be available for the JWC.

Re: Wales under 20's Squad
Last year the team players were announced with their club side they represented so you can see the successful premiership teams in bringing players through, it appears naming their regions they are supposed to represent is taking credit away from the clubs e.g., Pontypridd have at least 3 players. If the WRU want to do this th e.g., Cross Keys/Dragons and not P off the club management.

Most of the players are contracted to regional academies and loaded out to clubs.

I looked on the Ponty site and the players called up are not Blues players they have 4 farmed out Blues players I did not consider these players.

Samson Lee (Scarlets)
Watch out for this kid this season, he is 18 stone and a nasty piece of work by all accounts with red hair, from a traveller family.
I guess we know which Welsh U20 player our beloved Celtic cousins will be trying to poach next season then!

I wonder if he'll choose not to play against France so his eligibility is still open.
