Do Todays Players Practice Too Much?
First topic message reminder :
In the past top players played more matches than players do today. So why are we constantly hearing about exhaustion, fatigue, injuries and calls for a shorter schedule and longer off season.
The explanation could be in something else we hear a lot of talk about. Training blocks (these sound paticuarly arduous...), gym work, personal fitness trainers and long practise sessions.
Its not just the match schedule that is wearing out todays players but the amount of work they put into preparation. Do todays players overtrain? Should they ditch all that extra curricular stuff and concentrate on match play

3000 sit ups !!!
That 50mins if he does one a second in a session, continuously, no stopping.
Thats just not possible, unless he has a 10min break after every 100 situps, then he'd be going for nearly 6hrs.
The body needs to rest muscles (from core strength exercises) every 24 hrs, so doing this every day is crazy, even 300 is stupid on a daily basis.
Believe me, the pain involved doing 3000 would be unbelievable, 100 is bad enough, but tearing his AB muscles to shreds would be more of a reality than completing that number.

That's nothing! The harder bit for Murray is having to listen to Lendl for hours about how great it feels to be a multiple slam winner!

Jubbahey. 50 minutes!!!
I prefer my maths at 2 seconds each ( I sec per sit up can't be doing them right in the first place)
1 hr 40 mins then whilst watching the Spanish version of EastEnders.

No, and they need a shorter season so they can practise even more.
We need more running around for longer.

'2997, 2998, 2999, 3000, 3001...'
Kaka: 'Uh Ronaldo? Xabi Alonso said you needed me.'
Ronaldo: 'Oh Kaka. I wasn't expecting company. Just doing my workout. Tuesday's abs, just like every other day.'
Kaka: 'Well you did ask me to come by.'
Ronaldo: 'Oh, did I?'
Kaka: 'Yes.'
Ronaldo: 'Ohhh it's the deep burn. Oh, it's so deep. Oh, I can barely sit up cause I did so many. I don't know if you heard me counting. I did over three thousand.'
This is my guess as to how Ronaldo's teammates found out about him doing 3000 sit-ups every day.
