ATP Points Spy
Hello all. Having searched the topics, i was surprised not to see a Cogen-tribute points spy table. Since we all seem to love a bit of statistics, i though i'd try and make one:
Significant others.....
I do of course realise that the presentation is nowhere near that of earlier tables, but i can try and edit it as much as possible! Happy watching!

Re: ATP Points Spy
thanks for this. Not much movement really, Tsonga could overtake Ferrer, Del Potro should break back into the top ten, and Dolgopolov is in danger of slipping down a couple of notches, but nothing really significant.
could you possibly edit it so the order is their new rank rather than their old one, and replace the "new rank" column by "movement in the rankings" (ie +1 for Del Potro, -2 for Dolgo, etc.)

Hey Mad. I've done the movement in rank now. The order might take some time - since it gets really messy trying to edit tables after you've posted them!!

Thanks for the welcome laverfan. I use those links quite often anyway - being the crazed stathead that I am! If anyone outside the top 16 starts to threaten, I'll put their stats in as well. Will work from home tomorrow, so updates can be made aplenty!
P.S. Found a suitable replacement for noleisthebest yet? I do miss Djokovic's no.1 cheerleader!

Welcome again from another stato, will be a willing partner in any crimes you want to commit.

We sorely miss her (if I can be allowed to represent the sentiments of 606v2 vis-a-vis NiTB). Her love of Djokovic and tennis discussions will bring her back, perhaps back to 606v2.

A win of Djoko at the AO might just do that.

Well he does look in ominous form. Admittedly that's only after 2 rounds, but still - he hasn't exactly lost his tag as a big favourite!

Re: ATP Points Spy
I'm always interested in what movement can take place due to a tournament. The top 4 seemed pretty spaced out at the moment, so unless one of them tanks in the next round I'd imagine they are likely to leave in the order they came.
Nadal can reach no.1 if he Djokovic loses next round and Nadal wins.
Murray can reach no.3 if he wins with Federer making it no further than the semis or if he is runner-up with a R3 loss for Roger.
Tsonga will move within about 50 points of Murray if Tsonga wins and Murray make it no further.

Hello all. Many corrections later, the new table is here! Not much movement in the top 10. But down from there, action is abound. Tomic is coming very close to a top 32 spot after his 3rd round win. Both Roddick and Dolgopolov are paying for lesser performances this year, and both are currently out of the top 16. This makes way for Lopez and Richard Gasquet to make a return.

BuLioli
Thanks. As a quick suggestion, can you bold those who are still in the tournament?
Don't expect much movement between the top 4, although as already noted Rafa can overtake Djoko by winning the tournament and Djokovic losing 3rd or 4th round (not very likely from his form so far).
Murray is in a similar position relative to Fed, except Federer can only retain #3 in the event of a Murray win by also reaching the final.
Tsonga and Ferrer have already virtually swapped, and appear safe from those ranked below them unless someone has a sensational tournament, and Berdy is in a bit of a no-mans-land, needing to at least reach the final to move up and unlikely to be caught from below.
Chances for Del Potro and Monfils to move up a bit, the latter because all those near him are already out. Similarly, one more win puts Lopez up to 14th.

Dear YI Man,
Thank you for your inquiry. After due consideration, the intergalactic Emancipator foundation has decided to make the following statement:
The priveleged list of names on the potential disciple list is top secret. Even the accepted disciples and the potential disciples do not know who their fellow members are. Potential, potential disciples also do not know that they are being considered for this honour; only on affirmation of their potential discipleship will they become aware of their appointment. There is no right of refusal. This is how it must be.
Yours faithfully,
Intergalactic Emancipator Foundation

Do I have to find all emancipator messages on all tennis boards to build a 'potential' and a 'potential+potential' list?
Lot of work for a search engine, I presume.

Re: ATP Points Spy
Why thank you Mr emancipator! I shall continue to post useful information for everyone's enjoyment.
I think I might expand it to a top 20, since it's getting very packed in that area!

And table is now expanded into the top 20 - if only to show Lopez and Gasquet in there - who are still in the competition. Enjoy perusing!

Re: ATP Points Spy
Table is now updated. Gasquet now moves up 3 places due to his win over Tipsarevich, and Wawrinka drops further due to not repeating his QF appearance last year. Nishikori makes steady progress up the table after making the 4th round of the AO for the first time. If I get time, I'll see if I can get some of the other unseeded players in :-)

Re: ATP Points Spy
Ferrer jumps back ahead of Tsonga for 'best of the rest' following the latter's 4th round exit.
Nishikori up to 1680 points, so goes past Troicki and Stan and solidly into the top 20.
Del Boy closing on Tipsy and Fish, but needs to beat Fed in the QF to pass both of them this tournament.

Re: ATP Points Spy
Hello all. Sorry for not updating stuff lately. I was busier than expected over the weekend. Got drafted into a cross-country race at the last minute by my club - still have aching limbs!
Anyhows, as dummy_half has pointed out, because of Tsonga's exit to Nishikori, him and Ferrer swap places again. All of which means that the top 9 are back to being unchanged in rank again! Nishikori himself enters the top 20 (at #19), after reaching the QF stage of a Slam for the first time.
Because of the huge gap that Djokovic holds in ranking points, his No.1 position is safe for some time, as is Nadal's No. 2 position. Murray still has a chance to take the No. 3 spot, but this depends on him winning the tornament and Federer failing to get past the semis.
All in all, i'm looking forward to the next 6 days!

Re: ATP Points Spy
The table is fully updated. With both Nishikori and Ferrer losing today to Murray and Djokovic respectively, there is still very little change in the table. As mentioned in my last post, Murray can still take the No.3 spot, but would need to win the tournament.

Re: ATP Points Spy
If Nadal wins the tourney and Novak loses to Murray there'll only be around 1200 points between them.
If Roger wins he can close the gap to Rafa to around 800.
If Roger wins he can close the gap to Rafa to around 800.

Re: ATP Points Spy
And so the final table has been logged! Nadal has closed the gap by about 1000 points, but is still 3000 points behind Djokovic. But with the first big group of Masters tournaments coming up, he will have a big opportunity to close further (Djokovic has 4000 points from the 1st 5 Masters tournaments, Nadal 3400).
Still, that was allexciting viewing. Haven't posted recently since i was completely shattered from running in the Northern cross-country championships over the weekend!

Re: ATP Points Spy
Hope you had a good run, thanks for update.
It's worthy noting that Federer had semi finals to defend at Indian Wells and Miami (~360 points or so each) + final points to defend from Dubai (300 points, but he might not play?). That's around 1000 points to fall off.
Murray had a poor run last time and got almost not points for the same period. So if Murray outperforms Federer on February and March he will take the no 3 by end March, if their performance is on a par they should be neck and neck going into the clay season...
