Time for King Kenny to retire
The man is a Living Legend.. But please Kenny you are no longer fit for the job.
Shankly was eventually throw out of Liverpool he had lost his marbles, Kenny go before it happens to you.
Football clubs need to move on, and stop living in the past it happens to all the greats as i said Shankly, Clough and Keegan to a point
are prime examples
It is now happening to King Kenny. Retire for Liverpool`s Sake and for your own health.
Also i must add it WILL happen to Fergie, however personally i hope he runs the club into the non league ha ha

Re: Time for King Kenny to retire
I think you're overreacting, the problems are not problems that King Kenny has started. They're the same problems we've had since Benitez.
An ineffectual strike force which was only solved for a short time by Fernando Torres, a problem when facing small clubs, over-reliance on one or two players to change games, a lack of width.
These are all problems that can be traced back to Benitez or even Houiller. The only way these problems will be solved are through a long-term manager and coaching staff.
You can't expect Kenny to change things in a year, and we do not want to become another Chelsea, changing and chopping managers and expecting instant results. We haven't improved in the last three years, but the important thing is we're not going backwards. Kenny needs time, and I think the fact that he is a club legend means he will get it.
Some of the players just aren't performing, players like Adam, Downing, Henderson, Carroll are all performing poorly compared to last year. They have been at smaller clubs though (no disrespect intended), or have been big fish in smaller ponds, and it will take time for them to adjust.
There are still positives, and things are no way near as bad as they were under Hodgson and Hicks and Gillet.
Have more faith! There have been loads of positives this year, Gerrard is getting back to his best, Bellamy has been a steal for free, our defence is one of the best in the league (besides today's performance), Suarez is coming back and we have a good mix of youth and experience.
I think more time is needed, suggesting he needs to retire is a knee jerk reaction because of two poor results on the trot. There is no need to panic.

Re: Time for King Kenny to retire
I have read your points..
Adam, Downing, Henderson, Carroll are all performing poorly
Who bought them? Bad choice.
Gerrard is getting back to his best.
He will never get back to his best , getting too old.
Bellamy has been a steal for free,
Give over the man is a pest, what has he ever won.
You can't expect Kenny to change things in a year, and we do not want to become another Chelsea
What and win titles?????????

This game was Liverpool's season they were more up for it than City. You hope they win the League Cup? They are only playing Cardiff, it's a forgone conclusion.

What a stupid thing to say Lorus? Nothing in football is that easy and Cardiff will be a tough game. Liverpool have been the better team against City more than once this season, if they could perform with that energy every week they'd be in a far stronger position.

Only last year Birmingham beat Arsenal in a match that was supposedly a forgone conclusion for Arsenal to win.
I think the players responded really well to Kenny's midweek criticism with a really strong performance. Bellamy continues to impress, Man City never should have let him go really.

I have been told that excluding charity shields if Liverpool do win the League Cup and the will be favourites. They will have won more trophies than Man United, thus making them Kings of England once more.

The result for anyone playing Arsenal these days is a foregone conclusion. A defeat for the Gunners.

Nissan - I appreciate your article is predominantly about Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish. However, as an older poster who well remembers Liverpool under Bill Shankly, I believe you should be aware your comments concerning his departure are wide of the mark and lose you credibility.

Re: Time for King Kenny to retire
What a Flip disgrace of a thread. And I''m not just saying that because of tonight's result as I've only just seen this thread. Even if we had been eliminated, to be calling for Kenny's head 22 games into his first full season sickens me. People seem to just kneejerk from one result to the next and view anything with no perspective whatsoever. Football culture is becoming a real sad state of affairs.

When Shankly registered in hotels, whether in Europe or Eureka, he filled in any address line: "Anfield"!

What a ridiculous thread, Liverpool are doing ok this season, as soon as they start performing at anfield they will motor up the table. And to say Bellamy isnt a good player based on what he has won is ridiculous! There have been a lot of fantastic players that havent won anything in their career!

I'm not saying Kenny should go, but...
If Hodgson had done this well last season Liverpool fans would have been calling for his head.

Yes because he was never fit to manage Liverpool and Kenny should have been appointed before Hodgson in the first place.

Re: Time for King Kenny to retire
Even as a United fan this is the dumbest thread I've ever seen.
He's had little over 12 months and already somebody is calling for his head. Can't chop and change every and expect to make any progress. You think Uniteds success happened overnight? They stood by Ferguson when he was under a lot of pessure, had we sacked him when he wasn't getting us results do you think United would have gone on to do what we did, because I don't.
In Dalglish you've got the perfect guy for the job, some of his signings may not have been brilliant, but nobodies perfect. Ferguson signed Djemba Djemba, Bellion and Dong Fangzhou. But name me a better person to instill the values of Liverpool FC into any player (new or otherwise). Name me a better manager who will make the players believe that playing for Liverpool is the biggest thing any footballer can do.
I don't like him, but that's the United fan saying that. As a football fan Liverpool have most definately got the right man for the job

Re: Time for King Kenny to retire
Exactly most if not all Liverpool fans wanted Kenny to get the job not Hodgson but if Roy had got Liverpool to a cup final and challenging for a CL place he would still be the manager but he didn't he had them languishing in the bottom 3 and lost a cup tie to the mighty Northamptondublfcynwa wrote:GG wrote:I'm not saying Kenny should go, but...

Kwini - wonderful post, wonderful tribute to a wonderful manager.
Another gem concerning a Liverpool manager in Europe.
Bob Paisley after Liverpool won the European Cup in Rome in 1977 by defeating Borussia Monchengladbach: ''This is the second time I've beaten the Germans here ... the first time was in 1944. I drove into Rome on a tank when the city was liberated.''

Don't be ridiculous. He may not be as good as Benitez or Hodgson but he's doing a great job. Hopefully he is there for many many years to come. Hail King Kenny!

Re: Time for King Kenny to retire
Kenny is the only manager not managing Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal who has actually WON the PL. On so many levels, he is the ONLY person as qualified as he is to manage Liverpool.
José? That would be a total farce. He only has eyes for the biggest contract, and that, after Real, can only mean Man U (unless Real sack him first).

And we flattered to deceive in mid-table last season, whereas this season we've regularly dominated & still dropped 2 (or 3) points!Crimey wrote:We're nine points better off than we were last year.

The point is, we're on an upward curve. We're playing better football than we have for the past three years.

6 goals in 27 games and a penchant for 'golf' might have been reason enough to let him go.
Better player now.
