Pirelli Introduce New Tyres for 2012
In a bid to create better racing and help create more overtaking, Pirelli have introduced a new range of tyres for the 2012 season. Whereas the difference between hard and sof compounds last season could be as much as 1.5 seconds per lap, they are looking to reduce that to around 0.8 seconds. The aim is to make strategy decisions less obvious and avoid the situation that transpired at some races, where teams would run with the softer compound for most of the race, using the harder compound for short stints only.
The dry tyres will use the same colour markings as last season, but will apparently be "bolder" making them easier to identify on TV. Intermediates will now be green and full wets blue.

We can all do without a tyre management championship. Jesus, qualifying was a farce for most of last season.
