Djokovic v Murray. Who wins?
Djokovic v Murray - who will win?
With all the Fedal chat, it seems this subject is missing!
So how do we see this one going? I'm finding it hard to judge because I'm still not totally sure what level Murray's game is at. Aside from an opening set wobble against Harrison, he has not faced anything that challenging. What looked a tricky draw has ended up being one of the easiest of recent years! His game seems to be functioning generally well and there seems to be an air of efficiency about him at the moment too. I haven't seen anything that special from him yet but he then he hasn't needed to do anything special.
Djokovic has produced some excellence but also some wobbles along the way. His match v Ferrer raised some physical questions as he clutched his hamstring and seemed to have breathing difficulties. His interview answers about these injuries carried the sense of "I don't want to tell a lie, so I'll answer a slightly different question". Is there something serious or was he just being a drama queen?
Assuming full fitness on the part of both players, I'm going with Djokovic in 4.

I'm not sure who will win, but I can't help thinking that at some point Lendl will end up in a fight with Djoko's mum.

In favour of Djokovic:
Djokovic won it last year.
Djokovic is a MultiSlammer.
Murray has never won a slam.
Djokovic is playing exceptionally well.
Djokovic is continuing on where he left off last year.
Murray hasn't beaten Djokovic in a slam tournament.
Murray's past performances against the top 3 in Grand Slams has been generally poor.
Murray's first serve percentage was cr&p in his last match.
Murrays Hawkeye challenges have been poor indicating he is not seeing the ball 100%.
In favour of Murray
Murray is playing well and probably better than in any other slam to date.
Murray in this tournament has a) been mentally focussed, b) has played one ball at a time, c) has cut out the on court moaning.
Murray has Lendl in his box, giving him confidence and possibly putting fear into the hearts of his opponents.
Djokovic has reported having some "breathing" problems.
Hewitt showed it was possible to rattle Djokovic.
Murray has beaten Djokovic four times in the past.
Murray almost beat Djokovic last year when Djokovic was playing his best tennis (in Rome).
Murrays forehand has been impressive.
Murray has beaten the top three in the Masters series suggestive he has the talent to beat them.

Ha ha! I wasn't going to watch that one but now I'm tempted. Do you think I should do a Poll or would it get me into trouble? Also what about Murray's mum v Djokovics mum? That could also be a good contest. My moneys on... you know I think its too close to call.

Re: Djokovic v Murray - who will win?
I am going to go with Murray in 5.
I think Murray has the aggression, Djokovic will serve up the short stuff no doubt and I think Murray will take it on. I have said 5 because Murray will have dips. When does he not. Murray has played inside the baseline this fortnight and also the 2nd serve has some mustard behind it. Looking at the Ferrer/Djokovic performance, Murray will have more depth with his groundstrokes compared to Ferrer. Murray needs to open the court up and bring Djokovic to and fro from the net.
Come on Muzza!

Well considering Murray's mum isn't there any more as she is with the Fed Cup team that won't happen

I think Nore Staat has summed it up pretty well above. My heart says Murray but going on the points in favour listed I think its more tangible that Djokovic will win especially if Murray serves as poorly as he did today.

Re: Djokovic v Murray - who will win?
Murray has a good shout. As LK says, the second set wobble against Ferrer and the set to Hewitt has shown the human side of Djokovic. Perhaps Murray can exploit it to his advantage.

Re: Djokovic v Murray - who will win?
If Novak is fit he wins. Murray has been hitting his forehand well which spells trouble for the opposition but Novak still has a big edge in that department as I would rate his forehand in the top 10 and possibly top 5 on tour, on a tour loaded with big forehands. The player who gets a high percentage of quality first serves in wins. Both players are lethal returners and neither overwhelming on the serve, so not giving 2nd serve looks will be key. I think this is the tougher more competitive semi. But if Novak is feeling well physically he wins.
