Djokovic v Murray Today
Djokovic will play Murray in an exhibition match today.

That should be fun. I wonder if they will go all out. I doubt either would want to lose...

Exhibitions are decent practice, but the unwritten rule is to ensure close sets and a close match, for the spectators. They usually try let it get to 4-4 or so before they start trying a bit harder at the end of the set.

JuliuisHMarx. So you think they'll get to 4-4 and then play for real?

Pretty much, probably in each set. Unless one plays really poorly. And they are friends, so we may see more banter and fancy 'exhibition' shots than normal.

Play for real and risk the prospect of injury ahead of Wimbledon!!
I think not. Some nice tennis and lots of exhibition type rallies for the fun of it. Sadly the end result will have about as much relevance to any Wimbledon meeting as tossing a coin to decide who wins that battle would.

I think the loser (and the losers fans) may agree with this. I wonder if the winner (and the winners fans) will?

the match between these two is flying by. 6-4 Djokovic in 1st set, the two lads look very relaxed. Nice practise for next week.

one thing i will never get tired of watching is the djokovic return of serve, it is just ridiculous. Never seen a player hit so many winning shots off the return since Agassi. Even when he doesnt hit a winner, he gets what are almost unreturnable serves back within a foot of the base line from both the forehand and backhand side.
Would love to know how he reads serve so well, must have superhuman reflexes

Where is the ball landing on when Murray serves to him? Is it right in the middle? Wouldnt surprise me. Returning Murrays serves is very easy, its returning players like Federer, Berdych and Tsonga that is more difficult.

So does this explain the 6-4 6-4 scoreline in Djokovic's favour?JuliusHMarx wrote:hawkeye wrote:JuliuisHMarx. So you think they'll get to 4-4 and then play for real?

I' d read about as much into this as some one these boards did in January 2009, when he beat Fed and Nadal in warm up matches
Don't think he's winning this year though and I think he knows it. Olympics or my likely the US Open is my tip for his breakthrough

Whilst Djokovic and Murray chose to share a court Nadal and Federer kept each other a little more distant.
