Re: Scotland A vs England Saxons
Only one real second row in the 22, why no Gilchrist?
Also I thought McArthur was ahead of Hall at Glasgow, I would have started him.
The inclusion of Danielli shows how we are struggling for back 3 players at the moment, but couldn't someone be drafted in from the sevens squad or something?
Not a bad team though. Wonder how Weir and Scott works as a partnership.

If Tom Ryder gets injured, looks like Scotland A will have 5 loose forwards on the field.

Gilchrist's absence may be explained by his EDP contract and insurance issues, I've hear, altho that doesn't seem quite right to me?Pat_Mustard wrote:Only one real second row in the 22, why no Gilchrist?

That scottish pack will be steamrolled, with exception of by Gaskell who's so skinny as to be almost not there!

Scots fans, who was the Glasgow blindside for the Heinken Cup? A red haired chap, can't remember his name, but would be very surprised if he wasn't in this or the main squad, especially with the injury to Brown and Beattie's exclusion

Bathite - inexplicably Mr Harley (the ginger tackle monster) seems to have appeared in the second row. I suspect that he may have been as surprised as we were.
Weird. Scotland must be down a lot of weight in those scrums.

Harley, thats it! Has he played there before? I was hugely impressed with him in both games

Harley did play there while Kellock and Gray were away at the RWC, though 6 is his natural position

Why do I get the feeling this will be a better game to watch than the Proper squads?
Danielli Aside I quite like the look of that Backline.

Re: Scotland A vs England Saxons
I'm afraid the presence of Danielli isn't due to a lack of back 3 players, I fear Robbo wants him to get some game time so he's in contention for the first team. No Beattie in the 15 or on the bench. Anyone know if he's injured?

Because it doesn't involve Dan Parks!

I like the idea of a Scott/Grove centre partnership - certainly a combination worth watching.
The Saxons will be too strong up front unfortunately.

Agreed on the centre partnership potential, but I doubt the game will be televised unfortunately

If Hodgson gets injured and Farrell goes to 10 expect to see the Dan Parks tactics used by both teams. I hope they've got lots of spare balls as the leather is likely to be kicked off quite a few if that injury happens early doors.

Re: Scotland A vs England Saxons
We may be a bit light on the pack, however, plenty of experience there that with the correct attitude should compete.
Good to see Weir starting and not Godman which shows that he has to put on a show for selection for the big squad, I assume from this that Jackson still injured?
Backs have a good chance if we get quick ball and if necessary Weir putting us in the correct areas.

What the bloody hell is Danielli doing there ? Useless, clueless rugby player who can't even get a game for his club this season. Play young Murchie from the start or bring in Tommy Seymour from the Warriors. Great to see Tom Ryder playing - he has had a great season for the Warriors.

tommy seymour is american or canadian, can't remember which but he's played for either, which isn't good considering the whole shingler debaucle.

Born in Nashville, but played for Ulster age-group sides having grown-up there, no sign of any senior appearance (and he defo did not sign any declarations, not the IRBs, not the Arbroath one, not even the Independence one!)NeilyBroon wrote:tommy seymour is american or canadian, can't remember which but he's played for either, which isn't good considering the whole shingler debaucle.

Also Asbo in an earlier post (elsewhere?) you were going through the players available in each position and omitted the excellent Tom Ryder when discussing Gilchrist. IMO Ryder is a better option - real rugby nous and aggression r-reminds me of Big Nutta Nate !

Re: Scotland A vs England Saxons
If memory serves me right did Tom and Rob not play most of the RWC together in second row for Glasgow. So at least they know each other and how they operate.
But yeah if Tom or Rob goes off who goes to 2nd row? RV or Wilson?
And Patman has been playing blinders for Glasgow and keeping Dougie out of the team so why on the bench? Not like he doesn't know the two either side of him!

Another Scottish try? Crikey crivens help me Bob. Well I guess those predicting that weather conditions would lead to scores in multiples of threes might have to re-evaluate. Ironically this could be a good thing for the senior England side.

Sums England's performance up really. They were in possession 6 yards from the Scottish line and got turned over.
