Wasps v Saracens on Sunday Empty Wasps v Saracens on Sunday

Post by Hound_of_Harrow Wed Feb 08, 2012 2:15 pm

Well folks, we all know the story about the infamous cancelled game against Sale at Adams Park a few seasons back owing to a frozen pitch. Well, even if the Wycombe Wanderers’ ground staff remember to keep the undersoil heating on at the weekend this time, the forecast temperature of -10C in Wycombe* the night before the game may be too much to keep the pitch playable.

* Also it tends to be a few degrees colder up at the ground than in town.

Just advising anyone thinking of attending the game to look out for announcements thumbsup

I see Tom Palmer is close to signing a new deal to bring him back to Wasps next season.

I'd say it's been a great move for Palmer. He wasn't rated much when he was playing for England before going. Then he became most people's first choice lock

Christ, Billy looks to have put some weight on during his injury layoff. What a porker

Lindsay tries to run through the posts rather than round them.

14-13 to Wasps

Good game so far Wasps are looking up for it at the moment, Saracens are as drilled as always, not much creativity though.

Deserved win for Sarries - all three tries from coq ups. Sarries controlled the game for long periods, and kept kicking in behind Wasps. We responded in kind when we have pace out wide in Haughton and Daly Doh

Some tough calls against us in the scrum didn't help, but both young hookers, Jamie George and Tom Lindsay impressed.

We need Tom Rees and Joe Launchberry back (and stay fit!), and Simpson to rediscover his mojo if we are to avoid being overtaken by Falcons.

Tough old season for Wasps fans is this one.

Lindsey seems to have learnt to throw! He could progress quickly if it isn't a flash in the pan.

Vunipola needs to lose some weight if he's going to be effective over 80 minutes. No reason he can't do it though.

Thanks Hound of Harrow.

Really pleased with this result. It was a strong Wasps team.

I think the difficulty for Wasps in the scrum came from reputation. Smit and Nieto vs Payne and Broster - who would you give the benefit of the doubt to? Plus in one scrum the Saracens pack did have the Wasps pack in full retreat.

Vunipola looked good I thought.

Wentzel really gets your lineout working well. Both lineouts were strong.

Too many high balls dropped though.

When all is said and done you should be good enough to avoid relegation.

This signing suggests to me that Wasps may have a buyer lined up, and perhaps soemone with serious cashh and ambition. Hopefully a move to the Olympic Stadium to follow.
