Qi and General Ignorance!
I am a mahoosive fan of this show and pretty much everybody on it with a dream lineup of Fry, Alan, Sean lock, Bill Bailey and Ross Noble.
I can remember so many of the facts off this great show and have always wanted to be the quizmaster ala the great stephen fry.
So this is what I am going to do, a QI quiz like thing where you will be deducted points for obvious or uninteresting answers and rewarded for the right ones and also for interesting ones.
Is anyone interested in doing this, I think it would be quite fun but obvs i would say that as it's my idea!
Any takers???

Re: Qi and General Ignorance!
Answers below
1) I know this one!
2) I believe it is...
3) No idea on this one...
4) I think the answer is
5) Not sure on this one
1) I know this one!
- Spoiler:
- Henry the VIII had 5 wives. This is due to the fact that his fourth "wife" Anne of Cleaves was deemed by Henry to be horrifically ugly. Therefore he refused to ever sleep with her not consummating the marriage. Henry therefore had the marriage annulled, meaning that by law and religion it never happened. A principle that still holds true to this day! Anne and Henry remained good friends for the rest of his life and she was given property including Hever [sp?] Castle, where Henry's second wife Anne Boleyn had lived (her of adulterous neck removal fame). Anne of Cleaves continued with a prior engagement and married. She had several children including a male, how Henry would have killed for one of them! Henry's 5 wives were therefore Catherine of Aragon [sp?], Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Kathryn Howard and Catherine Parr.
2) I believe it is...
- Spoiler:
- Antarctica. This is due to all of the water being ICE and no precipitation taking place over our south pole. Whether it is genuinely dry or not is up for debate, given that Ice by being Ice is frozen water which is wet!
3) No idea on this one...
- Spoiler:
- Maybe, and I might be completely wrong here, but Bamboo forests. Where each plant is connected via the roots. This allows for bigger trees to support younger smaller trees by providing nutrients. I can't remember what this is called but is similar to rhizoids in fungi. All the plants are connected making them one organism. Whether they are one organism is up for debate between scientists.
4) I think the answer is
- Spoiler:
- Indefinitely, as long as the chicken is fed, watered and has its neck cleaned out regularly so that it can breathe. However, the chicken will eventually die from normal chicken ways of dying such as disease, old age or being eaten by a fox! The last would be an easy way for a headless chicken to die as the chicken by the merit of not having a head would not be able to see or hear the fox approaching. Om nom nom Chicken the fox would say!
5) Not sure on this one
- Spoiler:
- They definitely do not blend. What they do do I'm not too sure on. Maybe displaying emotions or messages to other chameleons? Such as I'm ready to mate or oh <beep> its a bird thats going to eat me!

Re: Qi and General Ignorance!
1 - Know this one!
2 - Educated guess
3 - No idea
4 - Rough idea
5 - No idea
- Spoiler:
- Henry VIII had 5 wives. His fourth marriage, with Anne of Cleves was never actually considered official, due to them not having marital sex. It was Anne herself who testified that Henry would simply kiss her before going to sleep and never had sex with her.
2 - Educated guess
- Spoiler:
- I'm gonna have a guess at the South Pole because it's too cold for any form of precipitation to take place.
3 - No idea
- Spoiler:
- Some form of plant I'd guess, no idea which one.
4 - Rough idea
- Spoiler:
- Indefinitely, depending on conditions. I think its because it can breathe via a stem through its neck.
5 - No idea
- Spoiler:
- It changes when it wants to, because that's the way it rolls

Re: Qi and General Ignorance!
1) How many wives did Henry VIII have?
Two, four if you're a catholic. (if you say either you get it right)
His 4th marriage to anne of cleves was annulled as they never consummated the marriage and anne was betrothed to another duke.
The Pope said his 2nd wife's marriage to Anne Boleyn as illegal as Henry was still married to catherine of aragon.
Henry as head of the new church of england declared his first marriage invalid on the legal ground that a man couldn't sleep with his brother's widow.
He then annulled his marriage to Catherine Howard as she was unfaithful and passed an act that made this treason.
2) Where is the driest place on the planet?
Antarctica! Parts of the continent has not seen rain in 2million years.
The next place is the atacama desert in chile where no rain has fallen in 400 years, 250 times drier than the sahara as its average annual rainfall is 0.1mm.
3) What is the largest living thing?
A mushroom!
you may have some in your garden on a tree stump. The largest recorded specimen was found in Oregon, mostly underground and is 1000's of years old.
4) How long can a chicken live without its head?
The longest recorded time was 2 years back in 1947, Colorado. The chicken's head was chopped off but the axe missed the jugular and left enough of the brain stem to survive.
The owner went on to become extremely wealthy, touring the country and featuring in magazines.
Many copycat chicken beheadings occurred though most died within days
To keep him alive owner, lloyd Olsen, fed and watered the chicken using an eyedropper. Unfortunately one night the owner forgot it and the chicken choked to death .
5) What do chameleons do?
They DONT change their colour to match their background. This is a huge myth that has never been proved. They change due to differing emotional states (frightened, anger, changes in light and temperature and when a sexual mate is in view) if they match the background its coincidental.
They can look in different directions with either eye and are completely deaf.
So that is it and let us go to the scores, well well well do my eyes deceive me. In first place is.......
