Re: The Magic of the Cup
Great Cupset here though!
Swansea 1 Leyton Orient 2
An extraordinary own goal from Swansea City captain Alan Tate gifted Leyton Orient a FA Cup fourth-round victory.
Jimmy Smith gave Orient the lead, heading past Yves Ma-Kalambay as the goalkeeper flapped at a free-kick.
Swansea equalised moments before half-time when Darren Pratley's chip picked out Cedric van der Gun to flick home.
Orient hung on thanks to keeper Jamie Jones and a replay seemed imminent, but two minutes from time Tate swung at a cross and sliced into his own net.

Notts County v Man City, (depth of history versus depth of pocket). Not much magic here.

Good goal indeed! Man City will have to draft in their most expensive now.

Re: The Magic of the Cup
Well tbh i was going to start a new topic which was decrying the value of the FA cup,and please give me credit i know we got knocked out by Villa yesterday but that does not change my view on the demise of the FA cup, lets look at what i mean, clubs invariably field squad players in there line ups, prices are droped and yet attendances are very low,you dont feel any excitment at the games not even like it was in the early 90s, and possibly before that, when you couldnt wait for the KO, now its just took as a distraction from the league games,we need more money put into this competition and a euro spot to kick some life back into it.
Or could it just be the fact that maybe only 3/4 clubs have a realistic chance (the luck of the draw will let in others i will admit) of winning the FA cup.

Re: The Magic of the Cup
Was having this conversation whilst watching Notts County v Man City. Whilst you have to love the the FA Cup for being a no airs or graces, lose and your out competition, you can't help but get the feeling that it's totally overshadowed by the league games. Also a bit humbling to see a squad that collectively probably makes no where near the same amount of money in a month as one overpriced and underwhelming Man City player.

Good points raised. Cup Final day used to be very special, with shows like Grandstand and Saint & Greavsie doing cup final specials. There was the itinerary; 12.30 - teams leave hotel, 1.00 Meet the Bosses, 1.15 the cup story so far etc etc. Then around 2.30 there would be interviews with celebrities at Wembley, (if your team was involved the nerves had really kicked in by this point). Sadly, money has tarnished just how special the occasion is while sterile cup final wins by Chelsea each year do nothing to reignite the old magic.

Re: The Magic of the Cup
FA Cup 1st Round draw was made yesterday.
Crawley Town's last FA Cup tie was a brave 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Now we've drawn Bury away.
Back to Manchester it is I guess...

Re: The Magic of the Cup
I wouldn't be as up for revenge had the ref not been on Blackburns side and then Kean saying that he forfeited the next rounds game instead of admitting they were Poopie and not good enough.
I'd like to see a young team given a chance and still be able to knock a couple past them.

Cardiff to take West Brom to a reply and then beat them
Would Crawley beating Bristol be considered an upset?

Apparently not.
Crawley Town of League 2 v Bristol City of the Championship, and Crawley were the bookies favourites. It seems we were expected to beat a side two leagues above us!
I can't wait for the draw and our home banker against Tottenham
