Match day, what's your plans this week end?
So... It's abother big weekend. What's your plans? I'm going to "twikn'nam" for my first 6N and can't wait. I've been storing up brownie points by clearing the loft and garage.
What's your match day plans? Are your "spouse points" in credit or in a bad way like Greece's balance sheet?

I have been mega busy with writing reports this week and preparing for a presentation and then another essay which are both next week. On top of this, I've been preparing for an interview/test with Cardiff Business School, which takes place tomorrow. So by the time it's Saturday I'm gonna need a few beers, i know! Perhaps we'll go to Cardiff, it is always good:).

Matchday?
It should be called match weekend, 7 Super rugby matches, 3 six nations tests, SA vs NZ ODI and the world golf championship.
Coach potato, biltong and whiskey. That about sums up my weekend

I've just been putting the rugby in the Sky planner for the weekend. The wife is going to go mental when she sees how much there is. Fortunately she is working Saturday, so me and the kids will be glued to the Super XV and then the 6 Nations games!

Playing in Dover. Sky+ the game, but if we lose I'll sulk and not watch it. If we win that's Sunday sorted!

No.....my 'spouse points' are at an all time low. Any advice on how to build them back up greatly appreciated! As such I shall be mostly 'taking the dog for a walk' sometime around 3-30 on saturday and if he happens to lead me anywhere near the black horse, well....what can a bloke do??

Winter League Tee off 9.20 (get there for 8.20 for chipping and putting) - Back home 1 ish after quick pint - Kiss lovely english wife goodbye and wish her a happy shopping trip in town with the children - Eyes down look in Part 1 Ireland v Italy, nervous build up till the big one at 4 pm - Somewhere inbetween I'm sure I'll have something to eat

The WGC is only on later in the evening, when I sit back with a sense of fullfilment and a little on edge, so the golf is there to take the edge off.
It is all in the planning, Doc, the rugby will be tense, you will see bodies flying around, men hitting one another at break neck speeds, and you need to take that edge off otherwise you won't be able to go to sleep.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Hows life in Joisy!!! - Great place Grey great place, especially if you like Springsteen
Westwood in pole for the matchplay - That will be on for around 9-11 in the evening with a bottle of single malt to my right - For anyone on the old 606 board that's a bottle of single MALT!!

haha, still sounds great. Suddenly my sofa looks so mundane...
Simple plans- rugby, food, beer ENJOY.
Gym session tonight (so that I don't feel too bad over the gluttonous activities that lay ahead) , then a few beers watching Westwood tonight!
honestly cannot wait for this weekend.

Mornin mate. Yeah Life in Joisey is not too bad. Lots of people with funny accents, though! A bit of snow this morning.RubyGuby wrote:Hows life in Joisy!!! - Great place Grey great place, especially if you like Springsteen

The other day I dumped $125 each for two Springsteen tix (he is playing a mini tour) and here it is like getting tickets to see god's older brother - his concerts really are rockin events and are usually the best I have seen. Even a dumb Brit like me appreciates it.
I certainly get the Single Malt. Or is it Single MALT? Good way to take the edge off.

you need to understand the full setup of my TV room.
there is a 40" sony bravia HD LCD TV
HD Decoder full ability to go slow mo.
Marantz Amplifier, Bower And Wilkins surround Speakers.
Three Lazyboys next to each other, mine is in the middle.
I sit back, cut off from the world, my french doors open and I can see the odd wild life walking on the kopje outside my patio grazing the veldt of the nature reserve next door.

Grey - I put an emphasis on the single MALT for the old board 606 readers as about 2 years ago I was on 606 from about 9-11 pm on a Friday night whilst my beloved watched a film downstairs - I polished off a bottle of Chardonnay whilst writing on the threads and I sent the last post before the evening shut down which read, "nice talking lads, I'm now off downstairs to watch the golf and I will be curling up with a large single male!!!!!! - Ok, its only 1 digit away on the keyboard but I had stick for months on here. Beware the Chardonnay, beware the typos - or was it a cause of Freuds unconscious at work

I will have to suffice with the invitation to Twickers followed by beers in Barnes followed by dinner up town where the men will be joined by their wives. All on someone else's expense account.

Re: Match day, what's your plans this week end?
Bilton - 6 months ago my secretary e-mailed me and asked if I was able to do a "stiff induction on Friday morning with 3 new female members of staff" - I was flattered of course but she still hasn't lived that one down. Maybe we need a typo thread.
The 606 malt one was a classic I must admit and I'm happy to have made so many laugh (unintentionally this time though)

I remember a few years ago I was writing an email after coming in after having a few pints. I was writing about something of my wife's that was doing whatever. But, no keyboard sticking, just a slip or something stupid, or the booze, I mistyped "my wife's thats" to my wife's t*ts". And the email was going to one of her friends.

Well, I have to go to work. Two shoulders to fix. I was reviewing the cases and plan of attack unti about 2:00 this morning. This conversation is great stuff. Takes the edge off before going to the hospital.
Game plan for tonight is beer. Saturday play in the morning, watch England-Wales, have more beer. Sunday, play touch, then go to my son's wrestling competition. Then nap.

I have tickets, but also have the flu, currently taking every conceivable home remedy and OTC med to prevent the need to hand them over. If you're at the game tomorrow and find yourself standing next to someone who is sweating, shivvering, sneezing, smells like liniment, garlic and onions and has a herbal compress stuffed in each ear, it's probably me. In which case I apologise for anything I've said that would upset anyone in the last month (or so).

Re: Match day, what's your plans this week end?
Well, my six nations saturday as always is an emotional rollercoaster. Seriously, the morning of a 6N match is hell for my wife. My nerves are on edge, I'm over excited and childish (I'm 34), my heart is racing. Imagine I was actually playing! In fact, the last few days the nerves have been building. I'll probably feel sick tomorrow before then game. To control my excitement me and a few of the boys are off for a bike ride (yes you heard correct, a BIKE RIDE!) from 10am. That will work out some anxiety and tension. Stop for a bit of lunch and a pint in the countryside, then back for a shower and change. Into the pub for the 'warm up game' and the build up to the main event (no offence Irish fans!) . We'll be in our local, a small pub in a village outside Newport, packed to the rafters with mates and dads, etc, free curry at half time, lots of Guiness and ale consumed, pay a £1 to guess the score, lots of banter, give our English mate a huge amount of stick, tear my hair out at Mike Phillips' slow service, shout at the TV a lot, then crash and burn sometime in the evening after riding either a wave of euphoria or disappointment. Typical 6N match day really. Sunday will be hell.
Sometimes we go to Cardiff, espcially for the last game if the grandslam is on. Call me crazy but I've been to the MS for 6N and AI games a few times, but I just prefer the atmosphere of the pub for Wales games. Sorry. I am a Dragons seasons ticket holder so it's not the watching live rugby thing that I don't like, it's just more of a social/family and friends thing for me, and it's always been a big occasion in our diaries. We're mostly settled down with kids and stuff now so getting a free pass from the Mrs is never easy, but for the 6N there's never a question. It's just standard. The men are out!

Yeah, it's good in there still Gavin. A bit small, never enough space to watch the rugby but that adds to atmosphere a bit I think!
NHSOB is a good club, a few Dragons players have come through there at some stage like Ashley Smith and Lewis Evans (I think?!)
