Match day, what's your plans this week end?
First topic message reminder :
So... It's abother big weekend. What's your plans? I'm going to "twikn'nam" for my first 6N and can't wait. I've been storing up brownie points by clearing the loft and garage.
What's your match day plans? Are your "spouse points" in credit or in a bad way like Greece's balance sheet?

Off to North Wales for my grandfather's 80th birthday. Travelling from Norfolk! Having a birthday lunch/family party. Won't bother trying to watch the match in a pub in Llandudno after last year as there was no interest whatsoever from the gogs in the six nations. However there will be loads of South Walians travelling north so we will make our own atmosphere.
Will curl up with a large single male at the end of the day!

Down to the club in Kowloon for my team's championship semi-final and a few beers. Then off to the island for some grub, then heading to Delaney's in Wan Chai to watch the game which kicks off at midnight HK time.
The quins game is live on Setanta for a change at 2am so will probably head home after the game and watch it whilst I devour a Ebeneeezers chicken tikka kebab and pass out by half time on the sofa :P

Re: Match day, what's your plans this week end?
Mrs is on nights through to Monday morning so my weekend is about the same as biltongbek minus the golf. Due to the time difference the Ireland Italy game kicks off at 6.30am so it's an early start with cooked breakfast before the big game (for me anyway) kicks off at 9am. After that it will be a case of watching all the recorded Super rugby and AP games and then repeating again on Sunday for the Scotland France game. I'm as excited as kid at Christmas!
We have a severe weather warning for large amounts of snow and -20'c temperatures so even more reason to sit on my ever expanding ass watching rugby all weekend.

You need to move over here to redneck Alberta then. Everyone's truck (including mine) is a 5.4V8 and even the Mrs' run around is a 3.7V6. Plus we have the dirtiest mass produced oil on the planet and the radio stations play AC/DC and Metalica 24 hours a day. New age it isn't .RubyGuby wrote:I like V8 engines and burn lots of coal

Re: Match day, what's your plans this week end?
A typical Saturday for me with the additional of a few good 6nations games to watch.
I’ll start off by painting a ‘hammerite’ pentangle on my garage door before next door’s dogs wake up. Luckily I need no alarm for early rising; due to 1) the influences my chronic serotonin imbalance, and 2) my offspring who seem intent on waking at “Jesus-Wept”-O’clock.
I then intend on further convincing my mother that I’ve lost the plot by phoning her and describing in intricate detail the new “upstairs” garden I have created that can only been seen from the front bedroom window at dawn. Bacon sandwiches soon follow to give me enough strength to spend the next half hour turning lime water milky and relighting some glowing splints.
That gives me a few hours in which to help the children with the difficult bits of Zelda on the Wii ... in-between putting the ‘grace’ into (bars 9-32 of) the first concert study by Augustine Barrios (we each have to have a vice!). I’ll microwave some cheese sandwiches for lunch and drink cheap coffee finished off with a hand rolled Amber –Leaf.
After that it’s time to relax and watch the games.

Come up by train from Cardiff - meal and drink before game and celebrate after. Take lots of pics of the car park wallies....assuming they still have butlers serving.
I have never been to Twickenham and seen a Welsh team lose. Must have been lucky. This covers a period of 42 years.

Crickey, mate. If you are driving a pickup truck, you are Canadian already. You don't need to wait for your official citizehsip papers. Even got you wife a big engine, too. Are you going for the full redneck certification as well? You will have to have some teeth removed (including one or two in the front). At least that's the American requirement to achieve redneckhood.B91212 wrote:You need to move over here to redneck Alberta then. Nah, still got all my front teeth and refuse to grow a mullet with the obligatory bald patch for good measure. I did call the Mrs 'Doll' the other day to wind her up - worked a treat. Seems she is not my 'Doll' after all .doctor_grey wrote:Crickey, mate. If you are driving a pickup truck, you are Canadian already. You don't need to wait for your official citizehsip papers. We have the same type here on the East Rand. You should see the confusion when the guys get divorced, they are never sure whether their ex wives will still be their sisters when they get divorced.

Ah yes the blessings of a small gene pool, certainly plenty of that here. Think it's something to do with the population per square km. According to Wikipeadia it's 259 people per km2 in Great Britian and here in Canada it's a whopping 3.5 per km2 . Even marrying your first cousin over here is classed as exotic.biltongbek wrote:B91212 wrote:Nah, still got all my front teeth and refuse to grow a mullet with the obligatory bald patch for good measure. (for info it's 41 per km2 in South Africa biltongbek)

Then we just make it as a small gene pool. I think anything over 100 people per sq km is considered a scandal when you mix with your own genepool.
I think one thing about Canada that is misleading about the population density is that 70% of their territories are under snow most of the year.
You would most llikley find those marrying into that small gene pool were isolated during one of those long winters.

Starting to get a bit jumpy now.Have got beer, whiskey and pasties in.Feeling optimistic tinged with the usual celtic pessimism.
Good breakfast will be essential.Fridge well-stocked.Wife is English and doesnt quite grasp my need for the correct result. It is a genetic thing,I suppose.
Hoping for a great game, one of my bets coming in and a stonking great win with my Sportsguru selections running amok. All this followed by a jackpot win on the lottery and a nice bit of steak would have the makings of a pretty decent day.Not really botherd about the steak, but the rest would be dandy.

My day was as predicted: lots of nerves, lots of Guinness, lots of banter, great atmosphere in the pub, lots of emotions, feel like crap today! Oh, and the awesome sunny and warm weather in February! What's that about?! Icing on the cake.

Yes - very nervous day - but still have seen only Wales wins at Twickenham though it's a rather unsatisfactory W. Watched the Strettle incident again on TV and feel the video ref got it right.
